Star Wars: The Force Awakens Surpasses Titanic At The UK Box Office

On its journey to global box office dominance, J.J. Abrams Star Wars:  The Force Awakens has taken aim at one of the all-time heaviest hitters of international cinema, and sunk it. The return to the galaxy far , far away has now accumulated  £83.5M ($123.8M) after just 13 days of release, making it the 4th highest grossing movie in UK history, blowing the mighty Titanic out of the water.

Not only that, but it did it in record time, becoming the fastest  film to ever make it to £80M, beating Skyfall’s previous 23 day record. Oh, and you can add an IMAX sales record (£8.2M) previously held by Spectre while you’re at it. Bond will not be pleased.

The world is waiting to see if the force is strong enough with Abrams’ picture to beat James Cameron’s Avatar to become the highest grossing movie of all time. There’s no »

The Walking Dead Gets A New Promo Ahead Of Its February Return

The final scene of the somewhat anticlimactic midseason finale of AMC’s The Walking Dead saw Rick and co. smearing themselves in zombie guts and taking a little stroll through a massive heard of walkers. However, he subsequent prologue did nicely set up the arrival of the next big bad, Negan, who’ll be played by Watchmen actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

This new promo for the show’s 2016 return continues to tease the character’s debut, but unfortunately doesn’t provide our first glimpse of him. What we do get are a few new shots of our heroes doing what they do best: taking down brain-eaters.

Chances are we will get our first official look at Morgan’s Negan pretty soon, but how exactly  he’ll be introduced remains a mystery. In the comics it was taking his barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat, Lucille, to the head of a beloved main character, »

Ryan Gosling And Emma Stone Sing And Dance In First Look At La La Land

Continuing on with their huge batch of first looks (which have included Arms and the Dudes, Bourne 5, The Girl on the Train and many more), EW has now brought us the first photo of of Damien Chazelle’s Los Angeles-set love story/musical La La Land, which stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as a musician and struggling actress who fall for each other.

As you can see from the image above, the two leads are singing and dancing against a beautiful sunset, emulating the classic Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers musicals. It doesn’t tell us a whole lot about what to expect from the plot, but it’s a welcome look at the highly-anticipated third effort from Chazelle.

After greatly impressing audiences with Whiplash, all eyes are on the director to see if he can deliver again. It’s still a bit too early to say if he’ll be able to, »

Kill Bill 3 Is Still A Possibility According To Quentin Tarantino

We’ve been hearing about the possibility of a third Kill Bill movie for years now, but nobody has ever given us anything solid to go on. Director Quentin Tarantino himself has gone back and forth about exactly how likely it is in the past, but in a new interview with Variety, he definitely seems to have planted his feet on the more hopeful side of the fence.

I’m not committing to it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if The Bride made one more appearance before the whole thing is said and done…I am talking to Uma [Thurman] about it just a little bit. Some of the stuff that I’d written that never made it into the movie that maybe I could use.

Of course, at the end of Kill Bill Vol. 2, Beatrix (Thurman) completed her mission and ended Bill’s (David Carradine) life  – but there was »

First Look At Jonah Hill And Miles Teller In Arms And The Dudes

Entertainment Weekly has absolutely been on fire this week, giving us our first look at a number of high profile films, ranging from The Girl On The Train to Bourne 5, and of course, Doctor Strange. Now, they’ve delivered another one, this time giving us the first photo from Todd Phillips’ Arms and the Dudes.

What’s interesting to note here though is that the magazine calls it Untitled Todd Phillips Projects, which indicates that it may have undergone a title change. Whatever the case may be, this is certainly a film worth getting excited for.

Based on the Rolling Stone article by Guy Lawson, which was later turned into a book, Teller and Hill play Efraim Diveroli and David Packouz, “two young men who won a $300 million contract with the Pentagon to supply America’s allies in Afghanistan with arms, and were later arrested and charged with 71 counts of fraud. »

Leonardo DiCaprio On Nearly Playing Spider-Man For James Cameron

As you may already know, Leonardo DiCaprio very nearly played Spider-Man in the late 90s when Avatar director James Cameron was developing the project. Electro and Sandman would have been the main villains, but neither those character nor the general plot and tone of the movie would have shared much in common with the comic books.

Now, DiCaprio has finally revealed just how close he came to playing Spider-Man, and it doesn’t sound like he was ever fitted for a costume, that’s for sure.

“Not very close, but there was a screenplay. I know he was semi-serious about doing it at some point, but I don’t remember any further talks about it. We had a couple of chats. I think there was a screenplay that I read, but I don’t remember. This was 20 years ago!”

As for how much he believes playing Spider-Man would have impacted his career, »

Plenty Of Praise In New Critics TV Spot For Star Wars: The Force Awakens

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past few weeks, here’s a reminder that Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a critical and commercial hit. The above TV spot features just some of the positive comments which have been made by reviewers, along with a handful of scenes which didn’t actually make it into the final cut of the J.J. Abrams-helmed release.

Now that Star Wars: The Force Awakens has lived up to expectations, it’s going to be very interesting to see where things go from here. Will Star Wars: Rogue One and Episode VIII come close to this movie either financially or in terms of the response from fans and critics? That remains to be seen, but with a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes and box office analysts predicting a worldwide haul of over $2 billion, future instalments are going to have »

Ryan Reynolds Suits Up In New Batch Of Images From Deadpool

See Full Gallery Here

Even more images from Deadpool have surfaced today, with this latest batch scanned from the pages of Empire Magazine. As well as a couple of interesting behind the scenes shots from the movie, we get a new look at T.J. Miller’s Weasel and a couple of fantastic close-ups of Ryan Reynolds suited up as the Merc with the Mouth.

The question on most people’s minds right now is will Deadpool be a hit? The marketing campaign has been incredible thus far, and being featured on the cover of Empire Magazine should definitely help, but it’s still hard to say at this stage as this is such a unique property.

Some moviegoers will inevitably be put off by the violence and swearing, but there’s no doubting that this is a film with a lot of fan support behind it. Time will ultimately tell, »

Connor Jones’ Top 10 Remixes Of 2015

2015 was a big year for Edm, a moment that will go down in music history as a turning point for the genre as it made the transition from the underground fringe to full-blown mainstream popularity.

As Edm gained greater exposure in the mainstream world of music consumption, one of its most beloved practices, the art of remixing, saw a boost in popularity as well. The remix is an art form close to the heart of electronic music, allowing artists to transform a previously established product into something entirely new, fostering a collaborative and open community among like minded creators.

With a number of Edm singles hitting the pop charts, remixers flooded the internet with re-imaginings of their favorite songs, with varying levels of success. With such a high volume of works produced, there were bound to be great tracks and terrible tracks alike, but I’ve done my best to »

Check Out The First Official Image From The Conjuring 2

While director James Wan has been sharing a lot of behind the scenes images on Instagram, we now have the first official photo from The Conjuring 2. The highly anticipated horror sequel brings back Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren as they tackle an even more disturbing case than the first.

In the image above, we meet Janet (Madison Wolfe), one of the four young children of Peggy Hodgson. The family is plagued by what the director describes as, “probably one of the most documented paranormal cases in the world.”

However, the filmmaker will no doubt be providing the most terrifying take on the story yet. Set in Enfield, London, the movie takes place in the late 1970s and revolves around claims from the family that their house is haunted and they’re suffering from mysterious banging noises, demonic voices, and furniture being flung around »

First Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice Review Surfaces On Reddit

An early review of Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has surfaced on Reddit today, coming to us from someone who apparently screened the film last night in Los Angeles. How authentic this may be is up for you to decide, but it’s certainly interesting to see what he/she thought of the highly-anticipated superhero flick.

Be warned, spoilers will follow. If you’d prefer to go into the film with a clean slate, we’d advise turning back now. You’ve been warned….

More News From The Web

Hey DC_Cinematic, i’m using a throwaway account for obvious reasons, but I saw the movie last night! I use a website for advance screenings and I got tickets for a mystery film and it turned out to be BvS.

The movie was very long, as long as Tfa if I were to make a comparison. »

Kevin Feige Offers Updates On Thor: Ragnarok And Marvel’s Spider-Man

While the first two Thor films struggled to stand out, Thor: Ragnarok is shaping up to be perhaps The most exciting Phase 3 release. With the God of Thunder set to fight side by side with Mark Ruffalo’s Jade Giant (in outer space no less), it’s going to be absolutely epic, and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has now dropped some interesting new details about the movie.

For one, it doesn’t sound as if we should read too much into what the threequel’s title seemingly gives away:

“I don’t think people will read into that title alone [regarding] what the movie’s going to be. It’s going to be, perhaps, as totally different from the two prior Thor movies as Winter Soldier was from the first Captain America. We want to take it to new places, we’ve got new characters that will show how big we’re swinging on this. »

SFX Entertainment Loses Spotify And Tmwrk Management Partnerships

It just wouldn’t feel like the end of 2015 if we weren’t able to squeeze out one more piece of bad news for Edm conglomerate SFX Entertainment. After a year which saw disastrous stock value dives, high-profile lawsuits, major event cancellations and the flat-out endangerment of thousands of festival goers, it’s been revealed that the second company of the same name founded by Robert Sillerman’s partnerships with Spotify and Tmwrk will not extend into 2016.

As of December 17th, Spotify’s business relationship with SFX-owned download platform Beatport was officially terminated, with the latter company owing $10 million to the former to honor a clause in their original agreement. So far, $2.5 million of the total has been paid, with the remainder due by July 1st of 2016.

In a somewhat opposite turn of events, management company Tmwrk – which represents Jack Ü, Dillon Francis, A-Trak and Diplo – discontinued their partnership with SFX Entertainment, »

First Official Image From Bourne 5 Surfaces

We still don’t know what the title of the next Bourne movie is going to be (The Bourne Enemy has been widely rumoured), but we do now have a first look at Matt Damon as the titular spy in Paul Greengrass’ upcoming film.

Little is known about the plot, though the actor has at least shed some light on where things pick up for the spy when he returns to action on a quest for answers about his past:

“There’s been the financial collapse, the great recession, all these issues of cyber warfare and civil liberties. We find him in a dark and tortured place.”

That certainly sounds pretty intriguing, and with Greengrass back at the helm, you can be sure that we’ll be in for a wild ride. Whether the film can live up to the first three is still up in the air, but given »

Chiwetel Ejiofor Reveals New Details About His Role In Doctor Strange

Despite the fact that this week has seen some fairly sizeable reveals about the Doctor Strange characters being played by Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, and Mads Mikkelson, Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Karl Mordo has remained one of the movie’s most mysterious figures. Well, until now that is.

The Martian star has finally shed some light on what we should expect from his take on the villain, but it doesn’t sound like he’ll share that much in common with his comic book counterpart. In fact, it appears as if the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of Baron Mordo is going to be one of Doctor Strange’s closest allies and someone who actually works with The Ancient One rather than against her.

“In terms of his life with the Ancient One, it’s this long and intense relationship they have that’s just very deep and very connected. I »

Kaskade Teases A Diplo Collaboration In New Interview

Every now and then a couple of artists tease a collaboration that makes the world of electronic music stand at attention for the weight carried by their names alone. Recently, progressive house heartthrob Kaskade revealed that he’s got a collaboration with none other than bass music pioneer Diplo in the works.

In an interview with Popspoken, Kaskade discussed topics ranging from piracy and drug use in the world of dance music (he’s resigned to a healthy grey area on both matters). When asked about upcoming collaborations, he mentioned:

I’ve been talking to Diplo about making music. That dude has a crazier schedule than mine. I’m sure one of these days, it’ll happen.

While the quote by no means gives either artist’s respective fan base any idea of when to expect their eventual joint effort, it certainly piques our interest. More importantly, it begs the »

Don’t Expect To See Thanos Appear In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

Thanos made his first proper appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when he was revealed to be the one pulling the strings in Guardians of the Galaxy, but it doesn’t sound as if we should expect him to factor into the sequel in a similar way. In fact, his declaration of war at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron looks set to be something which leads directly (and rather appropriately) into the events of Avengers: Infinity War.

Talking in a recent interview, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed the absence of Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and teased the Mad Titan’s plans for the McU moving forward:

“I wouldn’t look too hard in [Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2] for Thanos. The next time we see Thanos he will not be messing around. It was be, ‘Oh, that’s why they’ve been teasing this villain for five years. »

Point Break Review

Point Break makes no sense. It doesn’t seem to be trying very hard to make sense, either. A remake of the improbably fun 1991 crime thriller of the same name, 2015’s version only serves to inject excess adrenaline into this updated version of an already flimsy conceit.

After his future in the world of extreme sports takes a cliff dive, Johnny “Utah” Brigham completes a Ged, undergraduate, and law degree before entering the FBI’s training academy. His experience becomes an essential tool when a gang of skydiving thrill-seekers steals a pallet-load of stacked cash from a cargo plane, only to cut the ties and rain money on the poor villagers below. It somehow takes the expressionless lunk Utah to consider that fellow extreme athletes are behind these Robin Hood heists.

Not that the investigation really matters. Utah is assigned to gather information on these philanthropist adrenaline junkies but instead »

Galavant Season 2 Review

Seven episodes were provided prior to broadcast.

It’s been a lonely, quiet year without the screwball charm of ABC’s Galavant on television. Although the first season of the “musical comedy extravaganza” somewhat fizzled out by the end of its truncated eight-episode run, its underlying silly spirit carried a lot of weight in sticking everything from the show’s characters to its songs and jokes inside of your head long after its January finale. Galavant‘s second season improves upon that memorably anarchic humor in a way that feels revitalized and once again energetic, for the first seven episodes at least.

And if you think creator Dan Fogelman and composers Alan Menken and Glenn Slater are just gonna regurgitate the same ballads from last year, think again. The minute Galavant (Joshua Sasse) begins belting the show’s classic tune in order to appease a seasick King Richard (Timothy Omundson »
