    Nice piece, and a note: the NIS (RoK's intel agency) has lots of trouble in this department too, frequently mis-IDing purged individuals

    For US spies, N Korea is both a hard target & a denied area. Which means the IC knows a lot less than you think.

    Would make giving presentations that much more fun

    I've seen a lot of ridiculous props on Japanese TV over the years, but this model of the Carl Vinson has to be the most ridiculous.

    Oops, meant to type the Vinson here. Nimitz nowhere near WESTPAC either though.

    How is this not a bigger story? The Nimitz is still nowhere near the Korean peninsula and won't be for a week

    Reagan is undergoing maintenance at Yokosuka. Nimitz is in SoCal preparing for deployment. They are certainly not having a party in WESTPAC.

    Thread! Now question is whether DPRK has reasonable over-the-horizon ISR capabilities for tracking a CVN. Now they've got both ASBM and ASCM

    US officials are using KN-17 to describe what tested on Sunday, which was a liquid-fueled, single-stage medium-range missile.
