About me:

Photography started as a hobby back in 1985 (dad gave me my first SLR camera), but got neglected a bit between 2000-2006 (mostly happy snapping). In late 2007 decided to get back into it and also went digital. Now its about learning how to use the digital stuff and re-learning stuff I have forgotten.

  • Come on Sony, get rid of the teanslucent mirror for A-mount, and give us a camera that can hold large batteries and large lenses easily......

  • Especially my 600MM F4 which I have no confidence mounting on an tiny E-mount camera with an adapter, nor my 300MM F2.8 either!

PS: @MacroBokeh, my background is in engineering with some physics...

  • Yes the A-mount flange distance is actually an advantage to those that would rather not have the camera manipulate the image to correct it for the problems short flange distance creates! I would...

  • Yes, but still no mirrorless A-mount!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yet still no A-mount mirrorless. Havent bought a Sony camera since the A900 in 2009. Was just thinking about selling the 600mmF4 and maybe the 300mmF2.8.

Nikon sure got a lot of my money since...

  • Depends on what photography your doing, DX does still have advantages over FX in some uses, such as sport and wildlife photography. I have a D750 and a D7100 and the D7100 is my go to for wildlife...

  • Funny, I jumped from Sony to Nikon because Sony kit screwed me. Sony hasnt got any money from me in over three years. Maybe if they bring out a mirroless A-mount, but Im not going to hold my breath.

  • I tried three lenses all wide open using the sun and artificial sources, couldnt replicate the issue.

  • Well if it is just an adjustment, then mine shouldnt need it, if it requires parts replacements then it would be better to send it in is my thinking.

I like this camera so I will probably just add...

  • I checked my serial number (2004752) and the site says it is affected, but I have run every test I can and have read/seen and am unable to replicate any banded flare (not even a little bit).

  • Dont worry, I cant replicate it on mine either.

Heron: Just a great white heron caught while walking around Lake Illawarra.Dragonfly: It was late when I went to check the mail, but noticed this dragon fly settled for the night, happened to be playing with the old Minolta 7D and 105mm macro lens, so I used it to take a quick snap.
  • Commented on Nikon D750 Review preview

I have the D4 and the D750, and its the D750 which gets picked up more often now. The D700 was a favourite for performance and size. Didnt really want the D4 because of its massive size (found a...
