Dear Abandonia visitors: We are a small team that runs one of the largest DOS Games websites in the world. We have only 3 members of staff, but serve 450,000 users and have outgoing costs like any other top site for example: our servers, power, rent, programs, and staff. Abandonia is something special. It is a library of old games for you to download. It is like an old gaming arcade with all the old games in their original format. Abandonia is a place where you can find great old games and have fun four hours and years. To protect our independence, we are dependent of our friends using the site. We run on donations averaging around 6 USD (5 Euro). If everyone reading this gave the price of a cup of coffee, our fundraiser would be made easier. If Abandonia is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online for another year. Please help us forget fundraising and get back to Abandonia.

When Abandonia was founded it was to collect and present all old games where the copyright protection had been abandoned, hence the term ’abandonware’ and the site name Abandonia.com. We are still doing our best to keep the site open and free and will appreciate your support to help it stay that way.

‐ Thank you from the Abandonia Team

We are trying to make it easy for people in every country to donate. Please let us know how we could make it easier for you.

Please give whatever you can to help us.

Letters make words
We have new educational game on our site from mid 90es: In Search of the Lost Words. Not without flaws, but charming nevertheless. Cup of cookies to Svajoklis93 and arete for contributing.

Abandoned Times Issue #3 is OUT!
Almost four years have passed since we published the second issue of Abandoned Times, and that seemed such an achievement! Now, against all odds, we present you a very wild, rabid THIRD issue of the magazine. The process of making it was plagued by many problems, including the lack of content and of an active editor / designer, but in the end we made it through. I hope you'll enjoy the read!

So what's new? We have two interviews, one with Matthew Stibbe, the founder of Intelligent Games, makers of Azrael's Tear among many other games, and another with Aidan Hughes, the main designer for ZPC (many thanks to Connor Eck, without whom these would be impossible). red_avatar has covered briefly the history of the PC and the Amiga, while The Fifth Horseman looks into the future, to find out if humanity needs a brain transplant. You will discover many other articles and reviews on these pages, several about old and popular classics such as Toonstruck, Cannon Fodder, and Discworld. However, there might be some surprises as well.

Issue #3 (August, 2015) has 57 pages; to enjoy the best quality right-click on the cover and select "save link as" to save a copy on your HDD and avoid using the online reader. Don't forget to leave your thoughts on the forum.

HB AB No. 16!!!
Happy Birthday Abandonia!!! :)

It's been a while since we are around, making abandonware scene richer with our presence. Less efficient than few years ago, but we'll keep on with our work. Preserving and providing all those precious titles is a neverending quest :)

So, something rare and special for this occasion: the first version of Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego? from 1986. We hope it is a real treat for all fans and collectors. In case you haven't checked, enhanced version is also on our site. Big thanks to gumpy for providing the material.

We wish you all a nice day of gaming :)

To Dig is to Hunt
Something that some of you might remember from the old shareware DOS days, a little obscure and still lots of fun, thx to the effort of i_leeder who found the game and wrote the review, now on our site for all of you, here comes: Emerald Hunt.

Designed by Scott Powell back in the 1990, this Boulder Dash clone is one of those games that can keep you for hours. A definitive must for the fans of the genre.

Unconstruction of Protector
... or was it unprotection of Constructor? :)

Apollogies to you, old games fans, for our recent low activity. We had some back-end troubles that are still present, but now we know how to handle them, at least :)

So, what's new? Recently Constructor was removed from GOG, since remake called Constructor HD will be released soon. Now all of you managerial fans can get it from our site, and perhaps get interested in new game as well.

Big thanks to bart70 for sharing this info with us.

Heroes in a Half Shell Time
Although it's not exactly half-shell, time for turtle heroes. With movie being shown in cinemas, we thought it would be a good time to add the remaining action game for DOS.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - The Arcade Game is conversion from arcades, sometimes recognized as TMNT 2, sometimes as The Arcade Game, sometimes just causing confusion with the first game of the same title. It builds on the cartoon series, adds a little humor and lots of fighting with Foot Clan ninjas. Multiplayer supported :)

Tidings from Ashtalarea
The fantasy RPG Knights of Legend has just received a nice review, courtesy of Vic6, who receives our many thanks. Here's an excerpt:
"At times it feels like someone has made a heartfelt attempt to translate the depth and feel of a tabletop rpg on to a computer without fully understanding how either works. Much like Darklands it's an epic adventure that you have to admire for it's sheer scope and ambition even if the technical execution wasn't up to task. With hindsight Knights of Legend tried to do too much with too little, for every high point a player encounters there's a ravine full of rotting corpses around the next bend, and ultimately it paid the price and faded into obscurity."
Remember that everyone, even you can write reviews for games that lack one or haven't been uploaded yet. Either offer them in the Offers forum or send them directly to our special collectiveAB@outlook.com email together with your Abandonia username. If you don't have a username, your contributions will be uploaded under the common CollectiveAB profile.

Read and Relax... Before the Next Round
Our resident MK master is back. This time, SpiDoL brings us the scans of the comic books for Mortal Kombat games. These comics act as prelude to the games and were published along with arcade games release. Written and illustrated by John Tobias himself.

So, get the comics for Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II and Mortal Kombat 4. The comic for MK3 wasn't released.

Have a nice read.

Cup 20 Years Ago
World Cup is nearing the end and we haven't put anything football related to the site. Now it's the time to correct it, with adding the game that is all about World Cup, the one from 1994 in USA.

World Cup: All Time Greats brings a famous Tracksuit Manager match engine to PC but unfortunately does very little above that. Still, it gives you a chance to taste teams from 1994 as well as previous Cup champions, at least as their manager. Have some fun with football legends before the finals.

Shifting Gears
Starting today, there are some changes being implemented on Abandonia, and specifically in the staff's requirements for adding new games. While previously we always refused to add new games to the site if they had no reviews written, considering the current drought in contributions and the general passiveness pervading the site, we've decided to upload games even without them.

This is because we have gathered a big backlog of extras and archives. We feel that letting them sit and gather dust on the FTP would be slighting our past contributors.

You can help us fill in the gaps by writing reviews for games that lack them, offer them either in the Offers forum, or send them directly to our special collectiveAB@outlook.com email together with your Abandonia username. If you don't have a username, your contributions will be uploaded under the common CollectiveAB profile.

Mixed-Up Again
Today's is Children's Day in the world, so from time to time we add some game aimed for younger ones on this day. And today we really have something precious and rare to find: the second release of Mixed-Up Mother Goose, EGA version from 1991.

For all those fans who perhaps missed this version or simply wanted to see it. A big bowl of cookies goes to gumpy. Now let's go and fix some rhymes :)
