TNT has renewed Murder In The First for a third season to air in 2016. The crime drama, created by Steven Bochco and Eric Lodal, averaged an OK 2 million viewers in its second season, which wrapped its run on August 25. Taye Diggs and Kathleen Robertson star.
Murder In The First marked a departure from TNT’s procedural formula as it tracks one case for an entire season. It joins Rizzoli & Isles and The Last Ship, which also were renewed for next year. New Turner regime have been very selective in deciding which TNT and TBS series would stay on as both networks are undergoing a brand makeover.
Meanwhile, their best show, Major Crimes hasn’t been renewed yet? One wonders what they are actually doing at Turner……..
That is hilarious. Poorly written with red herrings and plot holes galore, acting is over the top and the direction laughable. We just hate-watched #2 because it was so summer and we were bored.
I’m sorry, you know this thread is about “Murder in the First,” right?
Happy to hear this. Loved the show early on and the chemistry between Diggs and Robertson is undeniable. But who on earth is going to write Season 3 now that creator Eric Lodal has moved on? The story totally lost its edge after his departure mid-way through Season 2 and the writing fell off a cliff. The last few episodes… trope city. And that finale was laughable. If TNT was smart they would beg Lodal to come back. Not sure if it’s worth watching otherwise.
How many episode did they order? you would think after the horrendous numbers Legends and Agent X got they would be in a hurry to renew Major Crimes given it is one of if not their best show along with R&I.
Can’t wait to see what season 3 brings now that Steven Bochco is the only one at the helm.
Naps. Lots of naps.
Really solid show for TNT. Diggs and Robertson are great–make it more than run of the mill cop show.
Why?
