1978: Meet Morris Bellamy, the man who robs the safe of America's most famous reclusive writer, John Rothstein. But it isn't just the money he is interested in. Morrie is obsessed with the author's notebooks and is prepared to kill the author for them.
2009: Meet young Pete Saubers, whose father was knocked down by an out-of-control Mercedes in a job line-up. When he discovers a buried trunk of money and notebooks of a famous writer, he has the means to rescue his family from poverty. If he can keep it secret.
2013: Morrie is up for parole. And he's hell-bent on recovering the notebooks.
That's when retired detective Bill Hodges - who has set up a company called Finders Keepers - discovers the scheme.
Finders Keepers is spectacular suspense. It is also King writing about how literature shapes a life - for good, for bad, for ever.
Read by award-winning narrator Will Patton, who was nominated for an Audie Award in the Solo Narration - Male category for his work on both Mr. Mercedes and Doctor Sleep.

"Ooh ooh ooh."
Usually when a book impresses me this much on audible I wonder if the narrator makes the story stronger. With King, I need not wonder. He picks the best because he is the best.
Now. You want to know what I thought right? Well. You know that annoying friend that goes.....oh oh oh and then, and I do not want to spoil the story but...well with this book that is me. I felt for our foul evil reader cause I get it. I hopefully will never go this far but........
Lol. Read it. If your a fan I can tell you the King is back in full form if not a fan? Well then, why are you wasting your time reading a review that only goes.....go read it. Go read it now!

"Stephen King at his BEST"
This is better than Mr Mercedes. I would have liked a different ending, but the book is fabulous!
"Good narration"
All the characters were live...excellent narration.
Good book..the villain is not as dark as Mr.Mercedes...and didn't like the part where the good guys don't even get scratched by the law for their crimes
"A delight!"
Stephen King is at his best when writing non horror stories; this one does not disappoint
"A cracking long and intriguing story!"
Very often the second in a series is not as good as the first book. Definitely not the case here. I never read Stephen King before Mr Mercedes and it will sound stupid if I say he's an amazing author. Of course he is... goes without saying. But he really is brilliant. In this second book, he so artfully crafts the threads of the story eventually pulling in the original characters, all of whom I love. It is a long and detailed story and highly entertaining. It's one you won't be in a hurry to end.
The narration is 100% top notch. I really like Bill Patton, he is a super narrator and brings all the characters to life. A very enjoyable 13hrs I believe! Highly recommend.
"A bit too practicable in the ending"
A good listen but not a great listen.the ending was obvious at the last lap
"good but"
Very disappointed to realise half way through that it was a follow on to another book. why not say audible ? ruined what is a fantastic story. not good enough audible
"Mr King ... Learn to edit"
60 percent of this waffle could be slashed with loss. It's just verbose. Long winded dribble, lack pace, point or often you have remind yourself why I'm I listening to this tosh.
I struggle on. This if factory writing for the sake of it. Quality is far better than quantity.
Pity I can't get my money back. I'm spoiled I just listen to two well written books on the trot, making this look bad. I would not bother buying this dross
"A criminal passion for literature."
If you enjoyed Mr. Mercedes, this will add to the story retired detective Bill Hodges, while delivering a totally new story that begins in 1978 and tangles characters and events from Mr. Mercedes into the plot of this story.
Stephen King is presenting us with the American nightmare, a late dickensian view of a dream that has gone sour for the many, a world where a first offence is the end for a young man and the making of a criminal with a passion for literature, a country where an economic stumble destroys families and the prospects of the young. A place where the rule is eat or be eaten, pay or stay put with no future or the possibility of higher education.
Two thirds of the book develop in this amoral society, with jails where sexual assaults are the norm and businessmen are corrupt, only when Bill Hodges and his associates enter the story a glimmer of morality and optimism is allowed to flourish.
A good enjoyable story because of the writing, with characters and a plot that develop with ease and grows in to crescendo of violence and threat. King still rules in this kind of stories and ads a bridge to the next part in this series in the last chapter.
"Great standalone novel"
I've listened to this before embarking on the first in the (intended) Mercedes trilogy. No regrets at doing this; finders keepers is a great standalone novel.
King at his best: this, a page turner. Narration brilliant too.
"Kept me gripped. Very good listen."
Excellent story and very strong narrator.
The book turned out to a follow up to Mr Mercedes. Some of the characters from that book were also in this one.
I found the story interesting and found it hard to stop listening. Several times I thought that the story was predictable, but then a surprising twist would come along. Very good, hope there is more to follow.
"King at his very best!"
I've read every price of literature Stephen King has written and this is the true Master at work! 3 different stories all intertwined in a way only StephenKing can accomplish, never feeling like you're 'out of touch' with either the characters or the stories. Great to see my fave writer appearing more on Audible! Thanks for the ride... Again Mr King.,,
"MR MERCEDES IT ISN'T !!!"
Although SK resurrects the central characters from Mr Mercedes. Even they can't make much of this 'pot boiler'. SK is one of my favourite authors. We go back a long time together! I usually enjoy when he links stories and characters into different books but 'Finders Keepers' is just one too far in my opinion. If you haven't read any King before don't start here.
"Brilliant follow on to Mr Mercedes"
Finders Keepers had me gripped throughout. Such a compelling story and a really different way to approach a sequel. It followed on from the excellent Mr Mercedes but not in any way how I expected.
I'd certainly read Mr Mercedes first to get the most out of this great book, then you'll be itching for part three like me!!
