Ricoh offers GR II firmware version 1.10

The Ricoh GR II's firmware has been updated to version 1.10 from version 1.0.5. The update is a basic one, improving the camera's 'stability for general performance' and bringing version 1.0.5 of the Image Sync software. The firmware download is available for Windows and Mac OS X from Ricoh Japan's website.

According to Ricoh's website, camera owners can check their device's firmware version with the following steps:

[1] Turn ON the camera.
[2] Press MENU/OK button and press Fn1 button.
[3] Press WB button to display [Set-up ] menu screen.
[4] Press flash button and Select [Confirm Firmware Version].
[5] Press flash button.
The firmware version for camera is displayed on the [Confirm Firm Version] screen.

Users can update, if needed, to version 1.10 following the steps detailed on Ricoh's website.

My question still remains unanswered. Does this one keep focusing on the background instead of the subjects? GR-I had this problem.

So by releasing this camera are they going to update the older version? Its the same camera, and 90% of the changes are firmware.
So will the people who own the original be loosing out of these updates that would have likely been destined for the first one?

Just a thought.

Wake me up when the fire sales start. Everyone who was going to buy this camera bought the last version. I don't think wifi will cause anyone to buy this one. An eye-fi card gets you most of the functionality of in-camera wi-fi.

Panpen - no hatred at all. I really like the GR, although I didn't buy it, I bought the coolpix A just because it fits in my workflow better. But the GR is great. All I am saying is that the GR II is not much of an upgrade. And I am sure that anyone who was going to buy a GR has already done so. So releasing a GR II with the only real upgrade being wi-fi is not going to cause anyone to upgrade. And isn't going to cause any new buyers to bite. Which is why I smell a fire sale in about 6 months.

I would think "offers" means that it is provided as an update that is not essential to the usability of the camera but does provide some options that some owners may like.

If Ricoh wants people to remember them maybe they should not release the same camera twice!

Nothing wrong with the GR but it doesn't give that a great impression (and I am a massive Pentax/Ricoh fan).

Camera's should always continue to be updated, when will people learn that not every successor is meant as an upgrade to current users, it's for people who DON'T have the camera. Those that have already had the pleasure of owning the camera for however long should just be happy with what they have and the fact that new users could have an even better experience. But if you're angry about them raising the price then of course you are right.

APS-C sensored GR made a radical step forward, people responded, but that was it. Releasing the same camera again, Ricoh slightly lost the momentum. A pity, because lots of new things could go indise the new GRII, and still make the old version equally viable; say, a 24MP sensor for lots of croppig options, and faster software alone could make GRII sellinga longside the GR, GRII selling at $200 higher.
