Making your camera gear look horrible to reduce theft possibility
4 weeks ago

Hello All - I will be traveling to SE Asia in March for a photography trip for a month.  Going to Angkor Wat in Cambodia for a week, then two weeks in Northern Vietnam.  I'll have a Nikon D800 plus about $7k+ of lenses/tripods/bodies, etc.  I've seen/heard of other photogs when traveling in countries where theft is high, to make their camera gear look busted, old, broken and otherwise not an attractive target for theft.  Things like putting duct tape on bodies/lenses or adding stickers or things like that.  Has anyone done this?  Can you suggest ways to achieve this.  Ideally, not permanent alterations to my stuff.

Thanks!
