Command Master Chief Shaun Brahmsteadt

Master Chief Shaun Brahmsteadt is currently assigned as the Command Master Chief of Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Maryland.

Brahmsteadt entered naval service July 3, 1985, attending Recruit Training in San Diego, California. He next completed Radioman ‘A’ School, also in San Diego.

Brahmsteadt’s first sea tour was on board USS Truxtun (CGN 35) from 1987 to 1989. He then commissioned and served on board USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) from 1990 to 1991, and followed this up with another sea tour on board USS Mississippi (CGN 40) from 1992 to 1993. His next sea tour was on board USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) from 1996 to 1998. He also served at sea on board USS Duluth (LPD 9), where he was the operations department senior enlisted leader, from 2001 to 2004. His first tour as a command master chief was with the Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 14 “Tophatters” from 2006 to 2009. While assigned to VFA-14, he earned his Plane Captain qualification, to include brake rider, duct diver, and final checker qualifications. His next tour as a command master chief was with Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11 from 2009 to 2010. His most recent command was as the command master chief for the USS George Washington stationed out of Yokosuka, Japan

His shore duty assignments include Naval Facility Pacific Beach, Washington, from 1986 to 1987, Head Quarters, Allied Forces Southern in Naples, Italy, from 1993 to 1996, and as a recruiter for Naval Recruiting District San Diego, California, from 1998 to 2001. He also served as the assistant communications officer for Commander, Naval Forces Pacific, San Diego, California, from 2004 to 2006. He has also been assigned as one of four command master chief/chief of the Boat class facilitators at Command Leadership School in Newport, Rhode Island, from August 2010 to April 2012.

Brahmsteadt’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy Achievement Medal (4 awards), Good Conduct Medal (6 awards) and various service and campaign awards. He graduated from the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy in October 2004 and the Command Master Chief Course in June 2006. He has qualified as an Officer of the Deck Underway and has earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems Technology and a Master’s Degree in Administrative Leadership from the University of Oklahoma.
