I think he is right in his opinion!

We have a saying in germany:

"When you're young you have no money but need a lot, when you are old you have a lot of money but don't really need it."

And there are some true aspects in that saying.

For example: When you are young, you have to pay the installments for your house/appartment, you have family/kids, you pay your rates for private insurances, you need a new car regulary because you have to drive to work. And in that time, you you often start with a lower wage.

When you are old, your house/appartment is already paid, the kids have their own family, you don't need a new car every few years, you get the payoffs from your insurances, you have your pension, and you simply don't need that much stuff for your daily life.
