Zack Snyder on building towards Justice League with Batman v Superman, suggests a new trailer is coming soon

A couple of days ago we brought you some comments from Zack Snyder about March’s hugely-anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice [see here], and now the director has been talking to 411 Mania about expanding the DC Extended Universe and building towards Justice League with the upcoming ensemble.

“I want to — we’re working toward Justice League, and I really want to create the — part of the thing I really want to create is the possibility of a world where they could exist together,” states Snyder. “I think up to this point, it’s been difficult to suggest a world where Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman and others could exist in the same universe. That was one of the things I really wanted to try and get at. Not to mention, the amazing opportunity to bring those characters and have those characters tell an important story, their own story, within the confines of a film. »

The Martian returns to top of the Us box office while new releases flounder

The wave of new films at multiplexes this weekend failed to make much of an impact on the Us box office chart, giving previous releases a chance to stand their ground.

The Martian edged out last week’s number one, Goosebumps, to return to the top spot. Ridley Scott’s sci-fi adventure raked in another $15.9 million according to studio estimates, bringing its total domestic haul to more than $166 million.

Although Goosebumps slipped, the spooky children’s movie still made $15.5 million for Sony in its second week. Meanwhile Steven Spielberg’s political thriller stayed in third place, adding nearly $11.4 million to its takings.

The casualties came in the form of The Last Witch Hunter, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, Rock the Kasbah and Jem and the Holograms, as well as Crimson Peak and Steve Jobs.

Vin Diesel’s Witch Hunter recorded ticket sales of $10.8 million, landing it in fourth place. The »

Kristen Wiig says Ghostbusters reboot backlash “really bummed me out”

It’s fair to say that Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters hasn’t got off to the best of starts with fans of the franchise, with many voicing their displeasure over the decision to reboot the series with a female cast of Ghosbusters.

Speaking to The Los Angeles Times, star Kristen Wiig was asked how she felt about the backlash to the casting, stating that complaints about the gender switch “really bummed me out.”

“The fact there was so much controversy because we were women was surprising to me. Some people said some really not nice things about the fact that there were women. It didn’t make me mad, it just really bummed me out. We’re really honoring those movies.”

Sony and director Patrick Hughes exit The Raid remake

It looks like the troubled Hollywood remake of Gareth Evans’ martial arts spectacular The Raid has hit another stumbling block, with The Tracking Board reporting that both director Patrick Hughes (The Expendables 3) and Sony’s Screen Gems have exited the project.

Screen Gems was developing the remake alongside Xyz Films, who now remain the sole production company involved with the project. It’s thought that Xyz are still pressing ahead with its plans for the movie, and is now seeking a new distributor, as well of course as a new filmmaker to take on the reins.

The remake of The Raid was first announced back in February 2014, but was put on hold last May, with a view to shooting this year.

Why Are More Actors Than Ever Appearing In Commercials?

This week, Neil Calloway looks at why more actors than ever are promoting products…

The imminent release of the new Bond film, means we can expect a few things; exotic locations, impressive stunts, thinly veiled misogyny and, perhaps most importantly, lucrative commercial tie ins.

If you’ve been to the cinema in Britain recently, or even just passed a bus stop, you’ll probably have seen Naomie Harris advertising the new Sony Xperia Z5. If you’ve opened a broadsheet, you’ll have seen Daniel Craig endorsing Omega watches. It’s standard procedure for Bond films; brands get to be associated with an iconic film series, and the studios get the latest products, and a huge chunk of cash to fun their films. You won’t see it in the UK, but Daniel Craig appears in Heineken adverts in the Us; they paid £28 million to appear in Skyfall, so it »

Charlie Shakespeare brings us two matches from New Generation Wrestling, with a Joe Hendry concert thrown in for good measure.

Joe Hendry Sings…

Joe Hendry strides the ring with incredible confidence to sing to the fans as, he’s heard, they want “less wrestling and more music”, before launching into his favourite song… about himself.

Sadly, though the fans seem to disagree, the concert is cut short.

Joe Hendry vs Ace Matthews

Hendry, however, opts to give the rabid wrestling fans of Kingston-upon-Hull what they want, offering to take on a top Ngw competitor and, without further ado, Ace Matthews comes to the ring.

Doctor Who Series 9 Episode 6 Review – ‘The Woman Who Lived’

Villordsutch reviews Doctor Who Series 9 Episode 6 – “The Woman Who Lived”…

Doctor – I know their lives are short, I understand, but those lives do matter.

Me – Shut up! You’re not my dad!

In this week’s Doctor Who we get to see the repercussions of the Doctor’s “God Like” decision of bringing Ashildr back from the dead in The Girl Who Died [see our review here].  Last week I wasn’t overly impressed with the weekly Who serving due to the injected humour and the pantomime “bad guys”.  I’m hoping this week manages to wash away that memory of that poor humourous episode, with its occasional good moments.

It 1651 and the Doctor’s just interrupted a Highway Man – called the Nightmare – from robbing the Fanshawe family. Mid-threat of blowing the Doctor’s brains out, the carriage makes a break for it, taking the Highway Man’s spoils and the object the Doctor was intent on finding. »
