The Sony Alpha 7R II has been the topic of much discussion and in our office, much testing. We've published a number of articles with results of our tests, picking apart Raw files from its 42MP full-frame BSI CMOS sensor and pushing its 399 on-sensor phase detect AF points to their limits. This first impressions review is the culmination of that work to date, including an in-depth analysis of the camera's image quality and the effects of shutter shock. Read more
Ricoh has unveiled the latest version of its 360-degree camera, the Theta S. Thanks to two 12MP 1/2.3" sensors, the S is capable of 14MP 360-degree still image capture, up from the previous model's 6MP images. Brighter lenses, 1080/30p video and integration with Google's new Street View app are all onboard. Read more
Sony's Alpha 7R II breaks a lot of new ground in terms of photographic technology. Its 42MP chip is the first full-frame backside-illuminated sensor, and it's bolstered by a 5-axis stabilization system. We've been testing its autofocus and low light capabilities, and now we've put it in front of our studio test scene. Find out if a BSI sensor gives it an edge over its peers. Read more

When the Sony Alpha 7R II was announced, it promised a lot of game-changing features, but its low light AF capability was an unknown. We've already seen some of the incredible continuous AF abilities of the a7R II, including pinpoint eye AF for even moving subjects, but a lot of pros may be wondering: 'if I ditch my DSLR for some of the advanced AF features the a7R II offers, will I be sacrificing low-light AF performance?' Find out in our video
