Set backstage at three iconic product launches and ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac, Steve Jobs takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution to paint a portrait of the man at its epicenter.

The Buzz: A collaboration between Danny Boyle, Aaron Sorkin, and Michael Fassbender is worthy of all the advanced attention that Steve Jobs has received, and we freely admit that we're so, so happy we've never seen that Ashton Kutcher movie so our imagination is free from bad movie-going experiences and having to make any comparisons. Also, we don't have to sit through anything about iOS 9 or the Apple Watch‎. The movie expands this week after its initial release; look for the myriad controversies surrounding it to stick around as the Oscar buzz builds.

Certificate R   -   Horror

Using a special camera that can see spirits, a family must protect their daughter from an evil entity with a sinister plan.

The Buzz: Say farewell for now to the movie franchise that introduced us all to Kristi Rey and Katie Marie Strider, as well as director Oren Peli and producer Jason Blum. This final chapter promises to show us how a modern-day family can still own a VCR, and it looks like Kristi and Katie might pull everyone into the spirit realm. Anyone interested in box-office financials should check out this article on the movie's controversial breaking of the 90 day theatrical-to-VOD window.

Certificate PG   -   Adventure | Drama | Fantasy | Music

As a small-town girl catapults from underground video sensation to global superstar, she and her three sisters begin a journey of discovering that some talents are too special to keep hidden.

The Buzz: A courageous attempt to re-fashion an '80s TV program for the YouTube generation, we're rather certain this movie, which has had the odds stacked against it since the first footage was revealed, will draw a significant audience from teens or nostalgia seekers alike. The anachronistic factor here is the idea of a major record label being a fundamental part of a young band's success.

Certificate PG-13   -   Action | Adventure | Fantasy

Metascore: 36/100 (8 reviews)
The last witch hunter is all that stands between humanity and the combined forces of the most horrifying witches in history.

The Buzz: If you believe the studio hype, The Last Witch Hunter is designed to become a new franchise for Vin Diesel, which is just fine by us if this one delivers on its B-movie promise.

Certificate R   -   Comedy | Music

Metascore: 28/100 (13 reviews)
A down-on-his-luck music manager discovers a teenage girl with an extraordinary voice while on a music tour in Afghanistan and takes her to Kabul to compete on the popular television show, Afghan Star.

The Buzz: Barry Levinson returns with another industry critique but hopefully Rock the Kasbah has more to say than the middling Robert De Niro comedy What Just Happened. You can contain and measure Bill Murray's charisma, but it might be entirely up to him to get audiences interested in this niche comedy.

Certificate PG-13   -   Drama | History

Metascore: 66/100 (14 reviews)
The foot soldiers of the early feminist movement, women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal State.

The Buzz: Suffragette arrives at a time when celebrities from Meryl Streep to Carey Mulligan and Jennifer Lawrence are speaking out against gender discrimination and unequal pay in Hollywood and contemporaries such as Amy Schumer and Sarah Silverman are speaking out against issues from gun control to reproductive rights. Director Sarah Gavron's depiction of the women's voting-rights movement in the UK has attracted made headlines of its own; first, Gavron was called to task for the movie's "whitewashed" cast, which resulted in Gavron addressing the historical accuracy of the story and its focus on the working-class women. At the UK premiere, an anti-domestic violence group Sisters stormed the red carpetto protest recent government cuts to domestic violence services. Can the movie life up to the real-world excitement?

Certificate R   -   Drama

Metascore: 59/100 (8 reviews)
Laney Brooks does bad things. Married with kids, she takes the drugs she wants, sleeps with the men she wants, disappears when she wants. Now, with the destruction of her family looming, and temptation everywhere, Laney makes one last desperate attempt at redemption.

The Buzz: Like other comedians before her, Sarah Silverman takes a dramatic turn in the new picture from Adam Salky (Dare). To Silverman's credit, it's not that much of a surprise to see her play a character that bucks traditional gender roles and questions what it is to be a woman, wife, and mother in a patriarchal culture since her comedy and her public appearances have become focused on such themes.

- [Opens in NYC/LA]

Metascore: 39/100 (6 reviews)
Adam Jones (Bradley Cooper) is a Chef who destroyed his career with drugs and diva behavior. He cleans up and returns to London, determined to redeem himself by spearheading a top restaurant that can gain three Michelin stars.
Director:

The Buzz: Bradley Cooper's latest movie was engineered to be Oscar bait; instead, it will enjoy the perks of a fall release without any apparent awards push. The movie spent no time on the festival circuit, so there's no indication why it was downgraded to a limited fall release. We will say it might be tough to sell the idea of Bradley Cooper playing an unlikable character as he does here. In the real world, does anyone want to see a movie about Gordon Ramsay?

Certificate R   -   Drama

Metascore: 67/100 (7 reviews)
A close-knit trio navigates the idea of creating life, while at the same time being confronted with a brutal scenario that causes them to take a life.
Director:

The Buzz: Reviews of Sebastian Silva's new movie are all over the place, which isn't hard to believe when you learn that the script, which didn't mature past rough outline form, takes a sharp turn out of the comedy genre in its third act and becomes a violent and ambiguous meditation on more than mere parenthood. Silva cast himself in a lead role and of course Wiig gets most of the press, but the narrative hinges upon the character "The Bishop" who is played by Reg E. Cathey of "House of Cards" fame.

  -   Drama

Metascore: 60/100 (7 reviews)
A young lawyer travels to an Ethiopian village to represent Hirut, a 14-year-old girl who shot her would-be husband as he and others were practicing one of the nation's oldest traditions: abduction into marriage.

The Buzz: Zeresenay Mehari's feature debut arrives backed by audience awards at some high-profile festivals (including Sundance and Berlin) as well as Angelina Jolie serving as its executive producer. More impressive is the fact that the project, which is based on a true story that put an organization called the Ethiopian Women Lawyers association on the map. Mind blowing is the fact that Tizita Hagere, who plays Hirut, was 13 years old when the movie was shot and, according to Mehari, nailed her scenes often on the first take.
