Megan Romer is an Upstate New Yorker by birth, but first moved to South Louisiana a decade ago and is now firmly-rooted. As her background is in both tourism and the music business, and her non-work interests are primarily food-related, she never lacks things to do in this area, and loves to share her discoveries and adventures with friends and strangers alike.

Megan's writing on travel, food, and music has been published both online and in print, and includes a seven-year stint as the Guide to World Music at About.com. I came to Louisiana for the music and stayed for the food... or was it the other way around? Either way, those two subjects remain my favorite to talk about and experience. For the record, I like my po-boys dressed, can seldom pass up char-grilled oysters on a menu, and can eat more beignets than you. Also, I'm at ease both two-stepping and waltzing, spend most of my time at JazzFest hustling back and forth between the Gospel Tent and the Jazz & Heritage Stage, and yes, I have been an extra on Tremé (the Mardi Gras episode in the second season).
Above all, though, I love New Orleans and all of South Louisiana because of the people. There's no other population in the world that is so able to balance tradition with innovation, and to me, that's the region's greatest appeal. There's always something new to discover and something old to revel in, so come join me in my endless explorations!
