Chinese optics company Shenyang Zhongyi Optical and Electronic has announced that it is adding a super-fast standard lens to its range designed for the Micro Four Thirds system. The new 25mm lens features a maximum aperture of F0.95 but has a very small and lightweight body. Measuring just 55mm/2in long and weighing 230g/0.51lbs, the lens has a barrel diameter of 60mm/2.4in and uses 11 elements arranged in 9 groups. The minimum aperture setting is F16 and the iris is constructed with 11 blades.
Like other Mitakon lenses, the 25mm F0.95 is manual focus only and features an aperture ring that has click-less stops for video users.
Coming only in a Micro Four Thirds mount, the lens will be compatible with Olympus and Panasonic cameras, though we are warned that it doesn’t work with the Olympus E-PL6, E-PL5, E-PM2 and OMD-EM5 Mark 1. Why that is isn’t clear.
Due to begin shipping in late October, the lens is priced at $399. For more information visit the ZY Optics website.
