Storyline

An intimate, mixed media documentary that follows Tig Notaro, a Los Angeles based comedian, who just days after being diagnosed with invasive stage II breast cancer changed the course of her career with a poignant stand-up set that became legendary overnight. This documentary explores Tig's extraordinary journey as her career ignites and as her life unfolds in grand and unexpected ways, all the while continuing to battle a life-threatening illness and falling in love. This film is a hybrid of comedy and drama that captures a personal journey about facing crisis head on with honesty and grace and overcoming pain and suffering with the healing power of comedy. It's a story about moving forward during a period of your life when you don't know what is going to happen. When you are willing to risk it all for what you believe is the right thing to do and for what you want to happen in this life. Written by Beachside Films

Funny, touching doc about an empathetic person
26 July 2015 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

I love Tig. The movie captures an incredible person doing her goddamn best. I literally cried, and I came out of it a little more hopeful, at least right now. I didn't even notice if the movie was well made or making some big point or anything, I just know that it got across an incredible human struggle and an incredible human. The movie was consistently sad, consistently funny, and in depth into someone's life in a fairly unique way. No matter how you slice it, a lot of objectively interesting stuff, great and horrible, happened to Tig in a pretty short time-span, and this movie shows us how it happened. This movie probably won't change your life, but it definitely turned my day around.
