The Scottish exams body says the new maths exam was 'too hard'

The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) has been defending itself over the new Higher maths paper.

The exam was so hard that the pass mark had to be reduced to 34%.

Janet Brown, the head of the SQA, told MSPs on Holyrood's education committee that the paper was too difficult but that lessons would be learned.

BBC Scotland's education correspondent Jamie McIvor reports.
