Through the second weekend in February, the Best Picture nominees have earned nearly $600 million at the domestic box office. Here’s a look at each title, with commentary provided by Box Office Mojo editor Ray Subers. Note: all figures are estimates as of February 15th, 2015.

“ American Sniper - $304.1 million

American Sniper opened nationwide the day after nominations were announced, and went on to earn a stunning $89.3 million over the three-day weekend. Thanks to strong word-of-mouth, the movie has held incredibly well in subsequent weeks; through the second weekend in February, it had earned $304.1 million, or more than the other seven Best Picture nominees combined. It’s on track to end its run with at least $340 million, which will make it the highest-grossing movie from 2014 (it technically opened in New York and Los Angeles on Christmas Day). ”
