Management Committee

In accordance with Article 4 of the Appendix to Resolution N° XVII of May 2004, a Management Committee of the World Animal Health and Welfare Fund (World Fund) was established. In February 2013, the OIE Council decided that the new Management Committee of the World Fund would be composed of:

  • The President of the Management Committee (the President of the World Assembly of Delegates), Dr Karin Schwabenbauer (Germany);
  • The Vice-President of the World Assembly of Delegates, Dr Botlhe Michael Modisane (South Africa);
  • A representative from among the donor bodies to the World Fund. Given that Australia is one of the major donors to the World Fund, and in consideration of the fact that Dr Schipp is a Member of the Council, Dr Mark Schipp (Australia) has been nominated by the Council to be the representative of the donor bodies.

The main responsibility of the Management Committee is to recommend, after review and assessment, the adoption of the programme and the annual accounts of the World Fund, and to transmit them to the OIE Council for endorsement and then presentation for final adoption by the OIE World Assembly of Delegates from the 180 OIE Members.

The Management Committee has convened in annual ordinary meetings on eight occasions to date (February 2007, May 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014). The next meeting will take place on 20 May 2015 at the OIE Headquarters in Paris.
