It's not a bad kit. The 18-55 is a pretty typical kit lens, so it's the weak point in that trio. A Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 would be a pretty big improvement. Lot's of deals on newer Pentax bodies at ...

I'm more interested in how many fake accounts he made to like his own posts. I'm certain it's at least two.

They tried to. It seemed like all the games touted some feature as lifelike, back before it was even remotely credible. Back when the cover art looked 50x better than the actual game. If instagram ...

I don't know why that's unfortunate. Cell phones are a lot more user friendly than an Argus C3 :P

For her application I think any number of options should work fine as far as the camera. I would probably put my focus on a tripod, lighting, and a lens with a flat field.

Longer fast lenses can benefit a lot from a good hood. One big enough to avoid vignetting yet not so large as to let many rays outside the image to the front element. An 85 f/1.4 has a lot of ...

It depends on the camera I suppose. They apparently work well with the Pentax K-01 per this thread. http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/138-pentax-k-01/241750-love-k-01-but.html

If you are looking for a good value, and video is not an interest, Pentax should also be on your list. Also, for the subjects you shoot, there are many mirrorless options that would serve you well.

I have a simple wired one that works well. If I needed wireless I'd probably try something like this first... http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/6-pentax-dslr-discussion/164858-android-app-dslr-rem ...

I think he might have better results shoulder mounting the rig with a remote viewfinder and shutter. Of course the swat team would likely show up before he could get the focusing dialed in.

Dual control wheels, SR and weather sealing are pretty basic differences, too. Well, you lose TTL flash metering. The DS was the last of the line that had both TTL and P-TTL. While I really liked ...

I didn't find it all that interesting, but then again, I've seen troll posts before.

I only ever heard the "gear acquisition syndrome" version. I had a subscription to one of those mags at that time - could have been that one. Didn't know the phrase was even still in common use, ...

I think perhaps the Ricoh GXR concept would have a better shot on the mobile market than it did as a traditional system camera. One mount, select the sensor/lens module that you prefer rather than ...

I'm not sure it's all age related. Many can snap a poor photo and convince themselves it is fantastic, and then bicker about it. It's a little harder to maintain that level of self-deceit while ...

Interesting the K-S2 isn't available.

I think the only real disadvantages at this point are the extra processing overhead for the larger files. Especially with corrections turned on.

Larger sensors collect more light at the same F/stop by virtue of more imaging area. The relationships between two different formats can be calculated. If you have the crop factor from one format ...

I have a K5ii, but no K3, so its an interesting option to me. The 18-50 gets some bad press though, and the kit with the 18-135 costs as much as buying the two items separate, which seems ...

I'm half with you on this. I find the G4's performance at f/1.8 pretty remarkable. CA's are well controlled, flare is mostly absent, contrast is good, and center sharpness seems to best an f/4 ...
