Undergraduate programmes at Durham are not typically available for study on a part-time basis. We will, in exceptional circumstances, consider applications for part-time study from applicants whose personal circumstances preclude them from undertaking full-time study (such as in cases of ill-health, for example). For advice and guidance on this, please contact our Admissions team at admissions@durham.ac.uk (prospective applicants) or your College and Course Team (existing students).
If you are eligible for part-time study, our Admissions team will forward an application form for you to complete. Applications for part-time study can be submitted from the September in the year prior to intended entry and must reach the University no later than 30th June in the year in which you intend to start your studies to provide our academic selectors time to consider the application and to discuss this with you. Part-time applicants will normally be interviewed.
Due to visa restrictions, we are not able to consider applicants who will require a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK so all applicants must have right of abode in the UK or hold a visa for other purposes which permits part-time study. Due to the commitments required to study for a degree part-time, we will normally not accept any applicant who is under-taking active study elsewhere that overlaps with their proposed registration at Durham.
If you have questions relating to studying at Durham or if you would like further details on any of the information provided above, please do contact us at admissions@durham.ac.uk.
