Record of In Training Assessment/ ARCP



SpR annual assessments will be performed on a "paper" basis, interviews will be held for fourth year trainees prior to sitting the FCEM. The minimum acheivements required for satisfactory progression are listed below. These may therefore be subject to change in the future.

The RITA proforma should be completed prior to your RITA deadline and needs to be completed with your educational supervisor. ARCP documentation should also be complete (either paper version or e-portfolio) and reviewed by your educational supervisor.

Below are guidelines of necessary requirements for each year:

 


 







1st year

1 audit

70% attendance at Regional Teaching

Current ATLS, APLS, ALS

3600 appraisal

Mini CEX, CBD and DOPS specified by CEM

OSCE ( score > 50%)

First contact with 1400 patients (400 kids)

 

 

2nd year

1 audit

70% attendance at Regional Teaching

Current ATLS, APLS, ALS

3600 appraisal

OSCE ( score > 60%)

First contact with 1400 patients (400 kids)

 

At least 1 case presentation on site every 2 years

 

Mx

  • SHO interviews
  • Complaints

At least 1 teaching session at Regional Teaching every 2 years

 

3rd year

1 audit

70% attendance at Regional Teaching

Current ATLS, APLS, ALS

OSCE ( score > 70%)

First contact with 1400 patients (400 kids)

 

 

Critical appraisal skills

Mx

  • Chair Departmental Meeting
  • Prepare a business case
  • Develop/update guideline(s)

 

 

4th year

1 audit

70% attendance at Regional Teaching

Current ATLS, APLS, ALS

3600 appraisal

OSCE ( score > 80%)

At least 1 regional BAEM presentation in 4 years

First contact with 1400 patients (400 kids)

 

At least 1 national presentation in 4 years - BAETA, BAEM, FAEM or Other

Below are some snapshots of a training session in 2006 - the West Midlands Fire Service arranged an afternoon demonstrating and participating in extrication from a vehicle.

Awareness of the hazards encountered in pre-hospital care and the difficulties encountered in different environments improved communication whe working with the emergency services. Appreciation of mechanisms of injury helps to identify injuries.
