as for me, am afraid both will be out and over my budget range. Anyway, am curious to see which one will be bigger and heavier....

the next 100-400 has the optical architecture of a Vario Elmar; so it should not be comparable to the old 100-300 (of course it is also expected to cost much more)

It doesn't matter if the lens is damaged; what I need is the mount for Nikon APS-C which is attached to the back of the lens with three small screws.
