I think that you fall victim to a pretty common fallacy, or perhaps a couple of them. You have your own set of preferences, but you project them on everyone else. So the couple holes that are there for you personally, become holes that are "objectively clear" to be these gaping holes for lenses that everyone and their brother clearly wants, ..... companies spending money on actual market research ..... the road maps they've come up with based on that research.

Panasonic and Olympus don't develop lenses to suit your specific needs. .... If you're frustrated, sell off your m4/3 gear and jump in to another system. Of course, ... Fuji or Samsung, have WAY more holes in their lens lineups.

Fact is there is no Pana & Oly prime longer than 75mm .... wait... forgot Samyang 135mm/f2 manual focus .... how many will buy that lens? didn't Samyang do "market research"? of course for that lens you need a camera with an outstanding EVF, but we are getting there aren't we?

Oh, I'm sure they did. But the Samyang doesn't have OS, doesn't have AF, and a third party like Samyang lives off of filling small niches. So the calculus for ROI is completely difference. Also, the mounts available for that lens are as follows: Nikon AE, Canon EOS, Pentax K, Sony Alpha, Canon M, Fujifilm X, Samsung NX, Sony E, FT, mFT. They're a little company that develops one lens, then throw it in as many mounts as possible to attempt to increase sales. You can't compare that to a first party making lenses for their own systems. The budget for creating the lens is inherently difference, and the revenues from it are too.

Again, I point to the fact that Olympus learned a lesson from their big expensive FT glass. They're working on the 300 f4, so it's not like they're ignoring the "Primes over 75" niche, but they understand that it's just that, a niche. For a company that's desperately trying to turn a profit with their very expensive camera division, they have to spend some time on the more mass market slots. And it's not like Oly's lenses haven't been well received of late, so they're doing something right.
