The advantage that Olympus has is not related to DFD vs on-sensor PDAF. Olympus should have inherently faster focus due to the faster aperture. The more light you have hitting the sensor the better chance the AF system has in determining focus quickly. This becomes more critical with continuous AF.

You are assuming a few things here... that the DFD advantage is not significant enough to outweigh the increased speed of the olympus (when you dont even know what the speed difference will be at 300mm)... that the olympus wide open will be as good as the panasonic lens... that in generally bright conditions the olympus will still have an edge... that the Olympus TC doesn't greatly level the playing field at 400mm etc.

Best to wait till they are both out if you are a panasonic camera user.
