I don't think you can do anything in Photoshop to simulate the magic of 'older designs'. The OOF areas of the 85 1.4 are very different from the Batis, more smooth with no cat's eyes. I wouldn't ...

from what the folks at dpreview say the artefacts only appear when the shadows are pushed hard, but even then I never saw any artefacts until dpreview published their article.

In 6 years taking pictures with the compressed craw format, I never noticed any artefacts. Not when I pushed the shadows heavily either.

Back in the day I shot the A900. It had the option for compressed and uncompressed raw. I always used compressed raw because I couldn't detect any difference. Then I moved to the A99 which only...

I'm with you in this. In 2008 I made the switch from Canon to Sony and frankly I don't want to make another switch any time soon. Alas one day I might be forced to.

The resell value of A-mount glass has been bad in the past and I guess it will only get worse, so I'm contemplating if I should sell a few lenses that I don't use regularly and put the money aside ...

Why do you think it may not be cost effective for Sony to build an updated adapter with built in AF motor?
-
by the way the Minolta 20mmm, Sony 50mm and Minolta 28-105 are very small and light, comparable to FE lenses. They're very sharp too, just the flare is behind today's standard.

I think so too, for the moment sticking to the A99 is the best option. It's just that I put out a lot of money on A-mount glass and seeing no good way forward is a bit scary.

I'm not planning to upgrade from what I have now. However one day, maybe in 2-3 years the A99 will give up and I wonder what I will do with all this lovely A-mount glass.

I think there is a difference at high ISO. The deep shadows are about 1 stop cleaner on the A7RII than previous technology or in other words the dynamic range at high ISO is about 1 stop wider than...

I currently have the A99 with the following lenses (1) Minolta 20mm 2.8 (2) Sony 50mm 1.4 (3) Sony Zeiss 85mm 1.4 (4) Sony Zeiss 135 1.8 (5) ...

I think that that red highlight comes from an LED that blinks in all colors of the rainbow, so every time you take a photo it will look different. There's another such light on the right side....

Hello Patsym, on your second image it's almost impossible to recognize that it's a composite image! What tool did you use to blend the hair?
-
Hello Babine Nice how you got all the strands of hair preserved. I need to study your approach and try to replicate. Thank you!!
-
Thank you Taylor Blue. That's the best step by step explanation I've ever seen on the topic :)

Thank you Ronnie for explaining your approach and showing how it looks. Looks good!! :-P
