We are surrounded by images and text. Some of these images are very powerful, often leaving subconscious connections between reality and what is burned into our mind's eye. Images such as the Coke Wave, McDonalds' Golden Arches, and the Target bull's-eye are good examples of the combination of text and images used in advertising.
There are many ways to create identifying images for businesses, products, and services. One way is to create a logotype. These are distinctive logos that are designed with a creative use of text to make a lasting image. Try to find examples of logotypes by typing these keywords into an image search engine, like Google images: Zenith TV, General Mills, IBM, PPG Industries, and General Tire. …
