Top universities in Africa
The two highest African entries in the QS World University Rankings for 2014/15 are both South African: the University of Cape Town (141st in the world) and the University of The Witwatersrand (318th). Five more South African universities are featured: Stellenbosch University, the University of Pretoria, the University of Kwazulu-Natal, Rhodes University and the University of Johannesburg.
Egypt’s highest entry is the American University in Cairo, in 360th place. Other internationally ranked universities in Egypt include Cairo University, Al Azhar University, Ain Shams University and Alexandria University.
Apart from South Africa and Egypt, other African countries which feature in the QS World University Rankings are Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana and Kenya.
