Maisonneuve and the Founding of Montreal
Radiant sunshine bathed the Island of Montreal on the morning of May 18th, 1642. The hawthorns and wild cherry trees were in blossom and the meadow, where a group of French colonists had set up an altar, was dotted with trilliums and violets.

Village Historique de Val-Jalbert
The village of Val-Jalbert was born at the turn of the century, when a pulp and paper mill was built at the foot of the falls on the Rivière Ouiatchouane (1901). The company village, very modern for its day, grew rapidly and had 1000 inhabitants by the mid-1920s.
Alma
Born of the lumber industry in 1860, Alma quickly became a prosperous agricultural parish. It burst into the industrial age in 1923 with the start of construction of the Isle-Maligne hydro station on the Grande Décharge.
Saint-Félicien
The town profited from the Chibougamau-Chapais mining boom of the 1950s, since nearly all the copper extracted from Chibougamau and Chapais (280 km northwest of Lac Saint-Jean) left the region via Saint-Félicien.
