Fall decor almost always includes cozy throws, chunky textures, and autumnal hues like orange, brown and red; but, sure as the seasons change, there are bound to be some new trends to keep things looking fresh. This fall, blue is the surprising "it" color, and warm metals mix with tons of textural elements for a look that's modern yet warm and inviting. As the days grow cooler, go ahead and bring out those classic pumpkins and gourds, but try one of this year's fall trends to keep your home looking current.
1. Indigo Blue
This color trend is a hangover from spring when denim accents grabbed the spotlight. Deep, indigo blues are still hot this fall, and look especially beautiful with autumnal tones like orange and brown.
2. Copper
While mixed metals were a hit this spring, copper has emerged from the heap to enjoy the spotlight this season. This warm metal--not to be confused with brass--has an orange-y glow just perfect for fall. Don't want to commit to a whole light fixture? Try just a splash of copper with a set of candle holders or a shiny bowl. For an even thriftier alternative, spray paint any of these objects with metallic copper paint.
3. Concrete
The austerity of concrete pairs beautifully with warm woods and metals. Concrete lamp bases, terrariums, accent tables and tabletop decor are all rock-solid this season.
4. Woven Wall Decor
Woven arts--such as macrame--were a huge trend in the 1970s and they're enjoying a comeback this fall. Wall decor like this adds great texture and is a unique alternative or addition to traditional artwork on a gallery wall.
5. Textured Ceramics
Ceramics are always in style, but the trendiest ones lately have texture. Ceramic vases, candle holders, and lamp bases are showing up ribbed or decorated with relief patterns like scales or flowers for extra interest.
6. Boho Chic Accents
Boho chic accents are inspired by bohemian and hippie influences and have a very eclectic and often global vibe. Mixed--almost clashing--prints, bold colors and globally inspired accents like a Moroccan tiled accent mirror combine for a look that's popular this fall. More »
