Tuition, Stipends and Benefits

Each Mayo Graduate School program offers guaranteed funding to ensure each student's success.

In addition, students may be eligible for financial aid if necessitated by their life obligations. The Office of Student Financial Aid can assist you in pursuing financial aid.

Ph.D. Program

Mayo Graduate School guarantees a five-year internal fellowship to all Ph.D. students. This fellowship covers full tuition, stipend and benefits, allowing students to freely select a research mentor with no requirement to serve as a teaching assistant. Find out more.

Medical Scientist Training Program (M.D.-Ph.D.)

Mayo Graduate School guarantees an internal fellowship to all M.D.-Ph.D. students for the duration of the program. The fellowship covers full tuition, stipend and benefits, allowing students to freely select a research mentor with no requirement to serve as a teaching assistant. Find out more.

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF)

Mayo Graduate School provides a $5,000 (before tax) stipend for 10 weeks. From this stipend, students are responsible for their own travel, housing and meals. Find out more.

Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP)

Mayo Graduate School also contributes to the training of a diverse biomedical research workforce by offering research assistantships to 10 qualified PREP students each year.

The assistantship provides a salary of $21,000 a year. A second year of support may be available. Students are also eligible for Mayo benefits, including low-cost, comprehensive medical insurance. Find out more.
