''Beasts of No Nation'' director Cary Fukunaga talks about his In Competition movie and coming upon newcomer Abraham Attah. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: American director, Cary Fukunaga, arrived at the Venice Lido on Thursday (September 3) ahead of the premiere of his new movie about African child soldiers "Beasts of No Nation". Fukunaga, who previously directed "True Detective" season one and "Jane Eyre", has his latest film In Competition at the Venice film festival. The film, which stars Idris Elba and newcomer Abraham Attah, tells the story of Agu, a young boy who sees his family killed when war comes to his village. Left alone in the wilderness, Agu is discovered by a rebel force led by a charismtatic figure known by his men as 'The Commandant' (played by Elba). Agu's is then forced into a brutal existence fighting for the rebels and witnessing the horrors of war first hand. The film is based on Uzodinma Iweala's 2005 novel of the same name.
