SUMMARY

The research of Yan W. Asmann, Ph.D., focuses on developing translational bioinformatics methods to analyze and interpret genome-scale measurements and experimental modalities, as well as applying these methods to study complex disorders in genomic medicine, especially breast cancer, prostate cancer and lymphoma.

Focus areas

  • Integrated analyses of transcriptome, exome and whole-genome sequencing data to study lymphoma etiology, staging, prognosis and treatment
  • Identification of genetic variants associated with familial prostate cancers using exome sequencing and whole-genome single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping
  • Identification of fusion genes and products as diagnostic/prognostic markers and therapeutic targets in breast tumors

Significance to patient care

Dr. Asmann's research will enable the discovery, validation and clinical application of genomic biomarkers and therapeutic targets in the era of individualized medicine.
