The group NWA emerges from the streets of Compton, California in the mid-1980s and revolutionizes Hip Hop culture with their music and tales about life in the hood.

The Buzz: They first brought their stories to the public through their music, and now that story is finally being brought to life in this biopic. N.W.A.'s journey of struggle and transcendence brings a nice balance to the heavy dose of summer popcorn movies. - Chako Suzuki

Certificate PG-13   -   Action | Adventure | Comedy

Metascore: 53/100 (34 reviews)
In the early 1960s, CIA agent Napoleon Solo and KGB operative Illya Kuryakin participate in a joint mission against a mysterious criminal organization, which is working to proliferate nuclear weapons.

The Buzz: Maybe you've watched "The Americans" and thought, I wish you guys were a little more fun. And I wish you'd see past all the Cold War stuff to the bigger threats, and team up with the CIA. And could you throw in Henry Cavill and Arnie Hammer while you're at it? Because that would be nice. Okay maybe you haven't thought all this, but these are the reasons to get excited for The Man from U.N.C.L.E.. - Melissa Roth

Certificate R   -   Comedy

Metascore: 77/100 (22 reviews)
A lonely college freshman's life is turned upside down by her impetuous, adventurous soon-to-be stepsister.

The Buzz: Story-wise, it's as if the new collaboration between Noam Baumbach and his lover/leading lady catches up with Frances soon after Frances Ha, where she's moved to Times Square and has a soon-to-be-half-sister to mentor. The names may have been changed, but the scenarios and jokes feel the same. Hey, it works better than the union of Woody and Emma, and the chemistry between Gerwig and her co-star, Lola Kirke, is apparent in the trailer, so we're thinking this could become the best comedy of the season after Spy and Trainwreck.

Will Henry is a newly single graphic novelist balancing parenting his young twin daughters and a classroom full of students while exploring and navigating the rich complexities of new love and letting go of the woman who left him.
Director:

The Buzz: After writing both Lonesome Jim and Grace Is Gone (and directing Grace), James C. Strouse lightened things up a bit with the decent comedy The Winning Season, which starred Sam Rockwell. Strouse now takes things even further with a fatherhood comedy and a leading role for Jemaine Clement, and I'm pretty excited about this combination after watching the trailer. - Arno Kazarian

Certificate R   -   Comedy

Metascore: 72/100 (13 reviews)
A comedy about Allie and Harper and their needlessly difficult journey to the beach.

The Buzz: We love knowing that Sarah-Violet Bliss and Charles Rogers came up with this idea at the beginning of a summer and had committed to making it by the end of that same season. The duo's best-friend comedy was a hit at SXSW and has earned a fair share of attention since then as Bliss and Rogers were added to the writing staff of "Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp". Looking a lot of like Romy and Michele satirizing the "Girls" generation, Fort Tilden should be embraced by many and reviled by others for that exact reason.

Set in the 1980s, a teenager from Vermont moves to New York City to live with his father in East Village.

The Buzz: Ethan Hawke gets Asa Butterfield high in this father-son dramedy from symbiotic filmmaking duo Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini. Reviews are all over the place; some say it avoids over-sentimentality and nostalgia-baiting its audience, while others indicate the story, its themes, and its dialogue are too on-the-nose to ignore.

A man teaches a young woman how to become a complete weapon. Later she is approached by a group of sadistic teens who kill blonde women for unknown reasons. The hunting season begins.

The Buzz: Nice to see Tyler Shields's low budget/high concept indie thriller earn a release as the writer/director preps his follow up, Outlaw. Personally, the concept seems more like a CW show crossed with a dark YA novel and less of a tribute to the horror-movie trope from which its title is derived. Hopefully there's something in the connection between Wes Bentley and Abigail Breslin's characters to make this a worthwhile view. - Arno
