This section highlights research programs and initiatives for researchers and other professionals working in the areas of substance use and/or mental health. Featured Programs and Initiatives

Researching Health in Ontario Communities (RHOC)Researching Health in Ontario Communities (RHOC) is a research initiative working to improve understanding, prevention and treatment of co-occurring mental health, substance use and violence problems in communities across Ontario. RHOC is led by a multidisciplinary team of investigators and uses a mobile research laboratory.

 

SAMI (Social Aetiology of Mental Illness)Social Aetiology of Mental Illness (SAMI) 
SAMI is a centre of excellence for the study of the social determinants of mental illness and addictions. SAMI's  objective is to establish a growing network of researchers to conduct investigations leading to evidence-based practice, and to do prevention and promotion work supporting mental health. SAMI is based at CAMH and the University of Toronto.

The initiative involves a year-long training program, including a ten-week course followed by 40 weeks of mentored personal and collaborative mental health research. The training program starts every September. Learn more about SAMI. 


Centre for Research on Employment and Workplace Health (CREWH)Centre for Research on Employment and Workplace Health (CREWH)
Work and the workplace impact our quality of life, yet little is known about this complex relationship. Our goal is to transform our understanding of work and living using a trans-disciplinary approach to research. (Formerly Work and Well-Being.)


Creating Together is an OMHAKEN initiative to jointly develop a research agenda. This will help guide health systems/services and population/ public health research investments and knowledge exchange activity in Ontario over the next 3-5 years.
