What could possibly go wrong for Paul Rudd in this action-packed Ant-Man teaser?

Evil forces are on the loose in a new teaser for Marvel's Ant-Man, but Paul Rudd might be just small enough to stop them.

An action-packed television spot for Marvel's summer epic promises that heroes don't get any bigger than the shrinking Scott Lang (Rudd).

Director Peyton Reed's re-imagining of the comic franchise has Scott Lang being given scientist Hank Pym's (Michael Douglas) incredible shrinking suit in order to redeem himself from a life of petty theft.

With the help of Pym's estranged daughter Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), Lang does battle with the egomaniacal villain known as Yellowjacket (Corey Stoll).

It was revealed this week that aside from introducing Ant-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the movie will also include another founding member of the Avengers.

Rudd is reprising his role alongside the heroes of the Marvel universe – including Tom Holland as Spider-Man - in next year's Captain America: Civil War as well. »

New Bridget Jones movie 'looking to start production this year'

A third Bridget Jones film could enter production as early as this autumn.

The project - rumoured to be called Bridget Jones's Baby - is being produced by Working Title, the company behind the first two movies.

The Daily Mail reports that Eric Fellner, co-chairman of Working Title, has said that the film is in "aggressive development".

"We are keen to try to make it later this year, but there's still nothing definite yet," he added.

"If the script and all our deals with the actors fall into place, then this one will be up and running."

Sharon Maguire, who directed the previous two Bridget Jones movies, is said to be on board for the new feature.

She and Fellner are also thought to have met with original stars Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth to discuss reprising their roles.

Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are already beaming up for Star Trek 4

Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are remaining at the helm of the Enterprise at least through Star Trek 4.

Production on next summer's Star Trek Beyond has just kicked off, but development is already underway on the fourth instalment in the film series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount recently closed deals with Pine and Quinto that will see both stars earn substantial raises.

Pine alone is expected to make $6 million from Star Trek 4, a far cry from the $600,000 he made for the 2009 reboot.

Star Trek Beyond has director Justin Lin taking over the franchise from Jj Abrams, who is now only a producer due to his commitment to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Scripting duties this time around were handed to Doug Jung and cast member Simon Pegg, who recently revealed that he was instructed to make the screenplay 'less Star Trek-y'.

Terminator Genisys slammed by critics in first reviews: 'Ludicrous and depressing spectacle'

Arnold Schwarzenegger is finally back as the T-800, but it's probably best not to expect a classic if the first reviews of Terminator Genisys are anything to go by.

The first wave of verdicts have landed and Arnie's big comeback is on the receiving end of a bit of a critical beating. It seems not even the presence of Mother of Dragons Emilia Clarke can revitalise the franchise. We round up a selection of the first (largely brutal) reviews below...

Variety

"It is, on the face of it, a ludicrous and faintly depressing spectacle, like watching a Terminator highlights reel stiffly enacted by Hollywood's latest bright young things (which makes the appearance of Jk Simmons all the more welcome in the minor role of a police detective).

"Yet while Terminator Genisys is far from a perfect movie, it may well be a perfect product of its time and place, one »

Jared Leto goes method as Joker, sends love letter and live rat to Margot Robbie

Jared Leto has gotten into his Joker character for the upcoming Suicide Squad movie by sending his co-stars some unusual gifts.

Co-star Adam Beach, who plays supervillain Slipknot, revealed to Entertainment Weekly that among the presents, Leto gave Margot Robbie a live rat.

"He sent her a nice love letter with a black box with a rat in it - a live rat," Beach said. "It was beautiful.

"Then he sent bullets to Will [Smith] with a letter."

Beach continued by recalling that the cast were given a dead hog, which was accompanied with a video message from Leto.

He explained: "Basically, what he said was, 'Guys, I can't be there but I want you to know I'm doing my work as hard as you guys'.

"The video he showed is in character. It blew our minds away. Then we realised that day, this is real."

Going Clear review: The film Scientologists don't want you to see

Director: Alex Gibney; Writer: Alex Gibney; Starring: Mike Rinder, Marty Rathbun, Paul Haggis, Jason Beghe; Running time: 119 mins; Certificate: 15

Bring me Louis Theroux! There are many moments during this disappointing depiction of Scientology where you may be crying out that very same plea.

Unlike the staggeringly good Amy, this documentary fails to muster any sense of objectivity towards the subject matter and frequently comes across as overly manipulative - the very trait it seeks to expose and demonise when it comes to Scientology. It's epitomised by the use of footage featuring key figures in the religion, including John Travolta, Tom Cruise and its founder L Ron Hubbard, which often dwells or freeze frames on the blazing eyes or wild laughter in a bid to make them look crazy. It devalues its objectives.

Such subjective treatment needs a stronger authorial presence in the film, beyond the occasional off-camera voice of the interviewer. »

Rose McGowan has confirmed that she wasn't fired by her female agent.

The Grindhouse and Charmed actress had her contract with acting agency Innovative terminated after she spoke out against an audition note asking actresses to wear a "form fitting tank" to show off their cleavage.

McGowan's agents were identified as Sheila Wenzel and Steve Muller, but she has now made it clear that Wenzel was not involved in her firing.

She wrote on Twitter: "Sheila Wenzel is a wonderful agent that ceased working with Innovative before my firing. She's a good, strong woman I'm proud to know."

Wenzel has shown support for McGowan on social media since the news of her firing broke, retweeting a message from the actress about the freedom of her own mind.

It has emerged that the audition note was for an upcoming Adam Sandler comedy vehicle.

Clueless jukebox musical is confirmed: 'Casting will be the main problem'

The long-rumoured Clueless musical has been confirmed.

The original film's director Amy Hecklering told Entertainment Tonight that casting would be the main challenge for the production.

"I've written what they call the book, and it's a jukebox musical," Hecklering said.

"Well, casting - that's, like, going to be like the main problem."

Last July, Heckerling revealed that popstar Katy Perry had expressed an interest in playing the lead role of Cher.

Cher was played by Alicia Silverstone in the 1995 film, and was supported by Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy, Paul Rudd, Dan Hedaya, Elisa Donovan, Justin Walker, Donald Faison and Breckin Meyer.

A TV spinoff ran for three seasons on ABC from 1996 to 1999.

Rock of Ages director Kristin Hanggi will direct the play and Dodger Theatricals (Jersey Boys) is producing.

Hecklering has not confirmed what songs will be in the Clueless musical.

Mad Max: Fury Road has debuted a Furiosa prequel comic - and it's awful

Mad Max: Fury Road might be one of the most critically-beloved films of the year, but the same can't be said for its comic book off-shoot.

The Vertigo Comics prequel series, penned by Fury Road's George Miller and Nico Lathouris, and Mark Sexton, is coming under fire for its depiction of rape and sexual abuse against Immortan Joe's wives.

Where Fury Road chose to avoid showing any of this violence, the comic makes it explicit and even gives Charlize Theron's character Furiosa a rape backstory. Co-writer Sexton has taken to Twitter to defend the plot, saying that his focus was on creating "dramatic tension".

@KameronJdevine Best answer is that the use of institutionalised rape by Immortan Joe is not only central to the story -

Setting Nina's Simone's record straight with What Happened, Miss Simone?

What Happened, Miss Simone? lands on Netflix this week - a documentary delving deep into the life and achievements of the incomparable Nina Simone.

Drawing on an extensive library of rare footage and interviews, the film executes the impressive feat of allowing the High Priestess of Soul to tell her story in her own words, more than a decade after her death.

Digital Spy sat down with the film's director Liz Garbus and Simone's daughter Lisa Simone Kelly - who served as producer on the movie - to discuss the musical icon's legacy, the state of race relations in 2015, and Zoe Saldana's controversial biopic:

Setting the record straight

Speaking to the filmmakers, it is clear that they feel very strongly about revealing Simone's story to a public that has largely forgotten how influential she was to both music and the Civil Rights Movement in the '60s.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play to open in London in 2016, Jk Rowling confirms

Jk Rowling is ready to share the "untold part" of Harry Potter's story in a new stage play in London next year.

First announced in 2013, the production will receive its world premiere in summer 2016 at the Palace Theatre in the West End. It is called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and will not be a prequel as originally rumoured.

Rowling is working on the show with the "dream team" of writer Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany, and explained that theatre is the "only proper medium" for the story.

"I'm very excited to confirm today that a new play called Harry Potter and the #CursedChild will be opening in London next year," the author wrote on Twitter.

"It will tell a new story, which is the result of a collaboration between writer Jack Thorne, director John Tiffany and myself. It has been a huge pleasure to share with them (and soon, »

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child prequel play to open at London's Palace Theatre in 2016?

The Harry Potter books and subsequent movies may have come to an end, but Jk Rowling is still offering up some magical spinoffs to keep fans happy.

While most of us are waiting for the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movies, in 2013 we were also told that a new stage play based on the Harry Potter stories was in development.

Baz Bamigboye has now revealed details about the play in his Daily Mail column, claiming it will be called Harry Potter And The Cursed Child and will open at London's Palace Theatre in summer 2016.

Rowling previously said that she would serve as co-producer on the project but would not write the script herself - that honour will go to Jack Thorne, while John Tiffany will direct.

The author also stated back in 2013 that the play will delve into the untold story of Harry's early years as an orphan and outcast. »

Rose McGowan speaks out on Hollywood sexism: "I just want to promote thinking a little bit"

Rose McGowan has elaborated on her thoughts about sexism in Hollywood after recently disclosing a problematic audition note.

The note for an Adam Sandler movie asked actresses to "understand the context" of their scenes and wear a "form fitting tank" to show off their cleavage.

"There's like 'dickery' as I call it [in Hollywood], where they're stuck in this Mad Men / Entourage era and it's just boring and it's kind of embarrassing," she explained to Nylon.

"It's old-fashioned and it's like, face palm, it's like, that's not what's going on now in the world, you've gotta change. If film is our number one export, be careful with what we're putting out there because you can do a lot of damage."

The actress - who was fired by her agent following the call out - added that she wants "to promote thinking a little bit".

Amy Schumer proves that being a Disney Princess is super creepy

25 June 2015 4:44 PM, PDT

If you trust Amy Schumer, you might discover that being a Disney princess isn't all it's cracked up to be.

In a new sketch from her hit series Inside Amy Schumer, the comic casts herself as a commoner who is dashed away from poverty to live in a lavish Disney kingdom.

Amy Schumer's latest outrageous skit sees her stripping for dogs

It turns out the real responsibilities of being a Disney Princess aren't as much about glamour as they are about maintaining "the purity of the royal bloodline".

That includes marrying a cousin and having your menstrual cycle tracked by a creepy royal advisor played by Tim Gunn, apparently.

And if it doesn't all go to plan – you get executed. Although to be fair, that blue dress is simply breathtaking.

Summing up - it's probably fair to say that Amy Schumer won't be popping up in any Disney movies in the near future. »

Lady Macbeth's treachery abounds in Michael Fassbender's new Macbeth trailer

25 June 2015 2:42 PM, PDT

Treachery abounds in a violent new trailer for Michael Fassbender's Macbeth.

After a previous promo video focused mainly on the famed Scottish warrior, Marion Cotillard's scheming Lady Macbeth comes to the forefront in an extended teaser.

Snowtown director Justin Kurzel's adaptation of William Shakespeare's immortal play casts Fassbender as the noble warrior.

Manipulated by his wife to overthrow the king and driven by his own lust for power, Macbeth lives with constant doubts about who he can trust and how long his own reign will last.

This version of Macbeth casts David Thewlis as the besieged King Duncan, Sean Harris as the heroic Macduff and Elizabeth Debicki as Macduff's wife.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan teases a small but iconic Batman v Superman role

25 June 2015 9:40 AM, PDT

Jeffrey Dean Morgan has teased that he could have a role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The Watchmen actor looks to be reteaming with Zack Snyder to play Thomas Wayne in the Man of Steel follow-up.

In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! the host pointed out a portrait bearing a striking likeness to Morgan on the set of the DC Comics/Warner Bros movie.

"Goddang it sure looks like me, doesn't it?" said Morgan.

"I think you probably have to go watch the movie to see if that's me, but that looks a lot like me, man."

The portrait is presumably that of Bruce Wayne's father, whose murder along with that of his wife Martha eventually led to his son becoming Batman.

Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane and Jeremy Irons will star in the movie.
