Jurassic World (2015)- Action | Adventure | Sci-Fi | Thriller
Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. After 10 years of operation and visitor rates declining, in order to fulfill a corporate mandate, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitor's interest, which backfires horribly.

The Buzz: I seriously cannot wait to see another movie with dashing Chris Pratt at its helm - and I probably speak for all of America when I say that. Women love him and men want to be him. But this summer flick isn't all about PrattPrattPratt! Let's not forget those scene-stealing dinosaurs. The shark scene in the trailer is everything! - Chako Suzuki
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015) - [Limited]- Drama
High schooler Greg, who spends most of his time making parodies of classic movies with his co-worker Earl, finds his outlook forever altered after befriending a classmate who has just been diagnosed with cancer.

The Buzz: When I was choosing my list of films to see at Sundance this past year, I wasn't really pulled in by the synopsis of this film. But my friend had an extra ticket so I tagged along with her. It was a lucky break for me because it was my favorite film at the festival and it was no surprise to me it won both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award. If you are a film aficionado, you will love this film. The lead character and his best friend Earl grew up on indie films and remake the classics with a personal touch-- my favorite was '400 Bros'. Take my advice, and see this film. I can't wait to see it again! - Michelle Nelson
The Wolfpack (2015) - [Limited]- Documentary | Biography | Drama | Family
Locked away from society in an apartment on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Angulo brothers learn about the outside world through the films that they watch. Nicknamed, 'The Wolfpack,' the brothers spend their childhood reenacting their favorite films using elaborate homemade props and costumes. Their world is shaken up when one of the brothers escapes and everything changes.

The Buzz: I've watched this trailer over and over again and I get goosebumps every time. The Wolfpack is a powerful story of isolation, identity, freedom, and transformation. The closing quote in the trailer says it all: "I guess he always saw us as 'the little boys who couldn't.' And then we transformed into 'the boys who can.'" - Chako
Set Fire to the Stars (2014) - [Limited]- Biography | Drama
An aspiring poet in 1950s New York has his ordered world shaken when he embarks on a week-long retreat to save his hell raising hero, Dylan Thomas.
Director:Andy Goddard |

The Buzz: John Malcolm Brinnin's book Dylan Thomas in America isn't credited as official source material here but it may enjoy a resurgence if Set Fire to the Stars succeeds in introducing the Welsh poet to a larger U.S. audience than he accrued in his curious lifetime. Reviews have been strong across the board, with heaps of praise ladled over the production design, bold black-and-white cinematography, and the score by musician Gruff Rhys (whose band Super Furry Animals is overdue to come off of its hiatus).
Soaked in Bleach (2015) - [Limited]- Documentary | Crime | Drama | Music | Mystery
Tom Grant, a private investigator once hired by Courtney Love, reveals his take on the death of Kurt Cobain.
Director:Benjamin Statler |
|
Watch Trailer |
The Buzz: Of the two Kurt Cobain documentaries this year, Soaked in Bleach sounds like it might work better on the Investigation Discovery channel. Not a slight against the project or its intentions - I feel like you'll need to see this story more than once in order to see its truths.
The 11th Hour (2014) - [Limited]- Drama
Successful businesswoman Maria has achieved everything except what she wants the most - a baby of her own. She decides to deal with the matter by herself and embarks on a desperate and dangerous journey in order to make her dream come true.
Director:Anders Morgenthaler |
|
The Buzz: Kim Basinger has earned a fair amount of critic-empathy for appearing in this movie -- more than one reviewer has proclaimed it's time for her to find her career representation. Writer/director Anders Morgenthaler hasn't received the same fair treatment; he's been raked over the coals for failing to establish a central character at all, never mind a sympathetic one.
