Halt and Catch Fire Season 2 Episode 4 Review – ‘Play with Friends’

Amy Richau reviews the fourth episode of Halt and Catch Fire season 2…

The main characters in Halt and Catch Fire made a big step towards the same storyline in the entertaining (and at times frustrating – Cameron stop being so annoying!) fourth episode “Play with Friends”.

Joe and Gordon are polar opposites personality wise, but they each have one important thing in common. They can’t back down from a great idea. Even if this great idea has them working together again under pretty sketchy circumstances. Joe knows that leasing out his father-in-law’s company main frame computers can lead to a financial killing, but in typical Joe fashion when he runs into an initial roadblock he ignores his superiors and decides to just go ahead and reconfigure the mainframe without permission. Not surprisingly there is no Sara in “Play with Friends”. I will be very surprised if the Sara-Joe relationship survives season two. »

First images from Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, set to be the final instalment of the franchise

USA Today has debuted the first look images from Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, which according to producer Jason Blum will mark the final entry in the popular low-budget horror series; check them out here…

“It’s coming to an end. This is it, the finale,” states Jason Blum. “We’re saying it before the movie opens. We’re not going to grind this horror franchise into the ground. This will keep Paranormal Activity as part of this culture and this particular time in a really fantastic way. We couldn’t go just teasing. All the questions that everyone has asked from the past Paranormal Activity films: What does Toby look like? What’s the backstory to the families? These questions have been teased out. Now they will be answered.”

However, while it sounds like the end of the series, Blum did offer a get out clause, adding that: “At some point, »

Ron Perlman says Hellboy 3 is “something we owe the fans”

Earlier this month, Ron Perlman encouraged fans to take to social media in an effort to help get the long-rumoured third instalment of the Hellboy franchise off the ground, and now Perlman has offered up a few more words on Hellboy III during an interview with Variety, stating that “it’s something we owe the fans.”

“I’ll tell you the same thing I’ve been telling everyone else, the Hellboy saga was meant to have a beginning, a middle and an end, and that, if you were loyal enough to us where you came and watched both those two movies that we made, we owe you a resolve. And there will come a time where he will have to live up to his destiny, which is to be the beast of the apocalypse, or if he has to suppress that destiny by sacrificing himself in some way so as »

Jurassic World becomes the fastest movie to gross $1 billion worldwide

This won’t come as much of a surprise given that it ended its second weekend yesterday with $981 million in the bank, but Jurassic World has crossed the $1 billion mark today.

The Colin Trevorrow-directed sequel becomes the fastest movie to reach that milestone, doing so in just 13 days of release around the globe, and shattering the previous record of 17 days set by Fast & Furious 7 earlier this year.

Not a bad first half of 2015 for Universal Pictures

Jurassic World is the twenty-second movie ever to hit $1 billion worldwide, and is currently the third biggest film of the year behind Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1.369 billion) and Furious 7 ($1.511 billion). It looks set to topple both of those in the coming weeks to become the highest earner of 2015 to date, although Star Wars: The Force Awakens will likely have something to say about that when it arrives in December.

New Dagobah and Action Comics #1 Lego sets revealed for Sdcc 2015

Lego continues to reveal new sets that will be made available exclusively at San Diego Comic-Con this year; last week came the Throne of Ultron, and now two new sets have been revealed: A micro recreation of the X-Wing and Yoda’s hut from Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and a recreation of the classic cover of Action Comics #1. Check them out below:

As cool as these sets are, they unfortunately have taken a page from Throne of Ultron’s book, and are actually not that exclusive, apart from the Sdcc packaging they’ll come in. Neither set contain pieces or minifigures that fans can’t already purchase elsewhere, meaning that – while they’ll remain must-buys for hardcore collectors – they aren’t as elusive or exciting as past sets.

Star Wars Rebels Season 2 Premiere Review – ‘The Siege of Lothal’

Chris Cooper reviews the season 2 premiere of Star Wars Rebels

With a double-length première episode Rebels comes flying right into the thick of the action. You might immediately be confused if you’re a stickler for the old canon, but with that being swept away it allows the Rebels team to show us a different takes on things.

Season 1 finished strongly, with our Lothal heroes coming into contact with the larger rebellion. But they’re successes mean they’ll no longer be chased down by mere local forces or anything as pitiful as an Inquisitor. No, the big guns are getting involved now, with a threat that will provide a monumental challenge.

It’s fantastic that James Earl Jones is providing the voice of Vader. The sense of legitimacy and authority he gives the character cannot be underestimated. Vader hasn’t been neutered for children; his ruthlessness is fully intact, »

John Barrowman will return for Arrow season 4

He may have ascended to the role of Ra’s al Ghul at the end of Arrow‘s third season, but that’s not the last we’ll be seeing of Malcolm Merlyn. According to actor John Barrowman himself, Merlyn will return for season 4.

Speaking with audiences at Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con (via ComicBook.com), Barrowman said:

“We start filming in July, season four — I just finalized my deal about a week ago. I’m very excited about going back, I can’t tell you anything because I do know a bit about what’s going to happen. But if you love Malcolm Merlyn, if you love Oliver Queen, if you love Thea Queen, if you love the Canary sisters, and I say that with a bit of a twist and a joke in it, you’re going to love what’s going to happen across the DC world. »

Ava DuVernay will reportedly direct Black Panther

Selma helmer Ava DuVernay was first rumored for the gig back in May, and now it’s (seemingly) been made official: According to McU Exchange, DuVernay will direct Marvel’s Black Panther.

This is far from an official confirmation from the studio or even a trade report, so the news should be taken with the requisite grain of salt. However, the site assures that their sources are very solid, and that DuVernay has officially signed on and will be present for the Black Panther scenes that will be filmed for next year’s Captain America: Civil War.

At this time, no screenwriter is attached to the project, though documentary filmmaker Mark Bailey wrote a draft. Now that DuVernay is reportedly on board, the process to find someone to write the script (DuVernay likely won’t, as she has admitted to having limited knowledge of comic book lore) will likely kick into high gear. »

Sam Wilson Captain America to get the Lego treatment for Sdcc 2015

Lego has already unveiled an exclusive Throne of Ultron set for San Diego Comic-Con attendees next month, which failed to truly excite hardcore collectors. Their latest reveal, an Sdcc exclusive Sam Wilson/Captain America minifigure, should remedy that.

The All New Captain America minifig will not only be exclusive to Sdcc, but will only be made available through a random lottery drawing, meaning it’ll be quite the hot ticket item once those lucky lottery winners list it on eBay.

At this time, there’s been no announcement regarding when attendees can enter the drawing, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more news as it becomes available. In the meantime, let us know how you feel about this super-exclusive Sam Wilson Captain America Lego minifigure in the comments below.

Vince Gilligan wants Bryan Cranston to direct an episode of Better Call Saul; Walter White still might appear

It’s been almost two whole years since the Breaking Bad finale aired and fans of the show are still finding it hard letting go and for good reason. It was one of the best shows of the past decade. Only a few months after the finale AMC announced that Vince Gilligan would be working on a prequel spin-off following the early days of dodgy lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk).

Despite it’s large fan base wanting more there was genuine skepticism that spin-off series Better Call Saul would taint the original. Thankfully Better Call Saul retained much of what made Breaking Bad great and it was considered a success, with a second season confirmed to be on the way.

Since Better Call Saul was first announced one question has been on everyone’s lips, Would Bryan Cranston be involved? Creator Vince Gilligan recently spoke to New York Daily News »
