Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom spotted out and about on the Gold Coast

FIRST pictures have emerged of Orlando Bloom on the Gold Coast.

Despite his security guards’ attempts to stop pictures being taken, the Hollywood heavyweight was snapped yesterday at the coffee shop he’s been visiting twice a day — Elk Espresso in Broadbeach — after admirers were told to not take pictures of him earlier in the week.

Pirates fans were celebrating this week after the Bulletin confirmed Bloom, 38, is in town and back on deck as blacksmith-turned-pirate Will Turner in Dead Men Tell No Tales, now just over midway through filming.

A Clear Island Waters man who is a regular at Elk spotted Bloom at the trendy eatery yesterday morning and said he was being affectionate with his genetically blessed son, Flynn Christopher Bloom, 4.

“He was very playful with his son, tickling him and smooching the back of his head — it was a cute moment,” the man said.

“He was reading a script at an outdoor table — no doubt for the Pirates of the Caribbean — while his nanny was looking after his son and his two minders were eyeing off anyone who came near him.

“I didn’t speak to him, although the staff at Elk seemed to be enjoying a chat with him and his son once he was leaving.

“He very politely asked one of the staff if she could put his son’s fresh apple juice in a takeaway container for him.

“Once he left the entourage all walked along the beach esplanade back towards Mermaid Beach with one minder in front and one minder behind.

“He seemed relatively unnoticed, however the staff were all starstruck.”

Early in the week a Burleigh woman wasn’t so lucky in trying to snag a sneaky pic.

The woman, who preferred not to be named, said she gave it her best shot when she saw Bloom and a woman dining at Elk on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old said one of Bloom’s minders warned her off when she tried to frame a photo of her friend to include Bloom in the background.

“The way he was dressed, I thought he was Johnny Depp for a second — he had a fedora and kooky sunnies,” she said.

“I was just checking him out as a dude and then realised who it was.

“He was with his son. He was cute.

“I think that’s why I got in trouble for taking a photo.

“His security guard was sitting at another table and walked over and said, “I know you obviously recognise him” but didn’t say his name.

“He said, “It’s private property and you can’t take a photo and his son’s here so you’re not allowed to’.

“And I said, “I’m not taking a photo of whoever you’re thinking I’m taking a photo of. I’m taking a photo of my friend.

“If the security guard didn’t come over, who knows — he could have had a thing for me. I’ll never know,” she laughed.
