Star Trek 3 to Start Filming as Zachary Quinto Gets in Character

3 hours ago | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Justin Lin's Star Trek 3 is set to open in theaters July 8, 2016, so the film should start shooting any day now. Star Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock in the franchise, gave fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse at his own preparation for the shoot as he gets into character. Despite popular fan-fiction to the contrary, Quinto does not spend his days sporting Spock's signature bowl cut, arched eyebrows, and pointed ears; it takes a fair bit of manscaping (Vulcanscaping?) to do the character justice. Star Simon Pegg has joined the screenwriting team for this untitled installment of the franchise and will join Quinto in front of the camera as well, along with returning stars Chris Pine, Zoe SaldanaKarl UrbanJohn Cho, and Anton Yelchin. Check out Quinto's behind-the-scenes image as he preps to shoot Star Trek 3: someone is preparing to emerge. A photo posted by Zachary Quinto (@zacharyquinto »

Univision Won’t Show the Miss USA Pageant After Donald Trump’s Controversial Immigration Comments

3 hours ago | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

In his quest to become America's next president, Donald Trump used a significant portion of his campaign announcement to insult Mexican immigrants: "When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people," he said. Since then, Mexico has threatened to withdraw from the Trump-owned Miss Universe pageant, and Latin singer J Belvin canceled his Miss USA performance. Now Univision is sending an even louder message: The world's largest Spanish-language network will not broadcast the upcoming Miss USA pageant or any of Trump's Miss Universe Organization pageants, it announced on Thursday. Univision says its news division will continue to cover the U.S. presidential election, including Trump. Earlier this year, Univision signed a long-term contract »

They intend to make ample use of data, graphics and charts.

Rome — Wednesday’s move by Vivendi to become the majority shareholder in Italian telco Telecom Italia with a 15% stake is sparking speculation that the Paris-based media and content conglom is embarking on an expansionist course, converging telcos and content in a first step toward becoming a pan-European pay-tv powerhouse and the only player able to outgun Netflix as it rolls out in continental Europe.

In a statement Vivendi, which comprises pan-European production and distribution mini-major Studiocanal, Gallic pay TV operator Canal Plus, and Universal Music, said it had spent more than $1 billion raising its initial 1.9% stake in Telecom Italia, which is Italy’s top landline, mobile phone and broadband operator, to 6.7%.

That is on top of the 8.2% chunk of Telecom Italia Vivendi had received from Spain’s Telefonica as part of an agreement to sell the Spanish telco its Brazilian unit Gvt last year. That deal also gave Vivendi content »

Then magically, mere hours after the letter went live, Apple announced that they would in fact start paying artists royalties during the 90-day period. Poof, voilà, abracadabra.
