Understanding Your Credit Card Statement

Frequently Asked Questions

What services does IMDb charge for?

Charges from IMDb could either be for subscription fees to our professional site IMDbPro.com, or for purchases from our IMDb Poster Services.

Our current prices for IMDbPro, which includes IMDb Resume:

$19.99 per month (includes both resume and photos, and access to the IMDbPro.com website)
    or
$149.99 per year (includes both resume and photos, and access to the IMDbPro.com website).

I don't recognize this charge on my bill. What should I do?

We take charge inquiries seriously and will be happy to work with you to resolve this issue. However, before contacting us, please consider the following common scenarios, in case this charge resulted from one of these situations:
  • Is this card a corporate or business credit card? Is someone else in your company authorized to use the card?
  • Do you have an assistant or secretary who is authorized to use the card?
  • Do you have a son or daughter away at school who is authorized to use the card? Have you asked them about this charge?
  • Do you have a spouse, friend, relative, or co-worker who has access to your card number and may have placed an order?
Please also check the amount to see if it matches one of the subscription fees listed above -- this may help you identify the reason for the charge and the service to which you are subscribed. We suggest you check with the other authorized users of the card. You can also check to see whether you have transaction receipts by clicking on Your Account > Receipt section of IMDbPro.com or the Your Account > Receipt section of IMDb Resume Services or the Purchase Status section of IMDb Publicity Photo Services to review your purchase history.

If the charge is not explained by any of these situations, please contact us with the following information:

  1. the card-holder name (exactly as it appears on the credit card)
  2. the type of card (e.g. Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
  3. the expiration date of the card
  4. the zip code of your billing address (where you receive your credit card statement)
  5. the last 4 digits of the credit card
  6. the date of the charge
  7. the amount of the charge

How do I cancel my paid subscription?

Every page on IMDbPro.com includes a Cancel link at the bottom (just scroll down and look at the blue footer bar). You can also go to Your Account information page and click on the Cancel link.

If you have trouble using the Cancel feature, just contact us and we'll do it for you (make sure you include enough details to let us identify your account and verify that you are the card holder.) Please note that the Cancel feature takes effect immediately: if you contact our help desk, the cancellation may be performed only after a day or two.

What is this $1.00 charge on my statement?

It's not a charge, just an authorization request.
When you sign up for a free trial on IMDbPro.com or update your credit card number on file with your subscription or use your credit card to authenticate your account to post in our message boards or access other editing features, we may contact your credit card's issuing bank to confirm that your credit card is a valid number, and has not been reported as lost or stolen. This is communicated via a $1.00 authorization.

However, we do not actually proceed with the charge. This is simply one of the security measures we use to protect our customers. No money is actually charged, and the authorization is automatically released by your credit card company after a short time.

Why did my credit card authorization fail?

It is not uncommon for a request for credit card authorization to fail once or twice before the card is finally authorized. We will notify you if we experience difficulties in authorizing your credit card.

You are always welcome to submit new credit card information to us for your subscription. To do this, visit Your Account and select the link to "Update your credit card."
