Reese Witherspoon could be spreading fairy dust on the big screen!
According to the The Hollywood Reporter, the actress is attached to a live-action spin-off movie, "Tink," about the beloved Peter Pan character.
The project will reportedly be in the style of Disney's "Maleficent," where audiences get a whole new perspective on the well-known character.

‘Tomorrowland’ Earns $725,000, ‘Poltergeist’ Scares Up $1.4 Million on Thursday Night

Disney’s “Tomorrowland” has opened with $725,000 in Thursday night preview screenings at 701 locations in the U.S., while MGM-Fox’s “Poltergeist” has scared up $1.4 million at 2,500 sites.
Disney opted to limit the Thursday showings of the George Clooney sci-fier to what it dubbed “movie palaces” in order to highlight director Brad Bird’s vision. It noted that “Tomorrowland” scored a $1,077 theatre average, which would have given it $2.7 million had it played on 2,500 screens and $3.2 million if it had been launched at 3,000 theaters — placing it in the same range as “World War Z” and “Tron: Legacy” with $3.6 million, “X-Men: First Class” at $3.3 million, “Inception” at $3 million, and “Interstellar at $2.7 million.
“Tomorrowland,” which carries a $180 million price tag, opens Friday at 3,972 U.S. locations. It’s on track to debut to $40 million for the three-day weekend and around $50 million for the four-day period. “Tomorrowland” also opens in 65 foreign markets.

Relativity Media Financing Triggers Public Dispute With Investor

Long-simmering reports of financial strains at Relativity Media broke into the open Friday when the company accused one of its backers of privately badmouthing its economic condition in an attempt to take control of the mini-studio.
Relativity said in a statement that New York-based Colbeck Capital had engaged in a “play…to try to seize control of Relativity by trying to spread false rumors about the state of the company.” Relativity chief executive Ryan Kavanaugh remains “fully in control,” the statement said.
The film and television company also said that Colbeck’s two members on the Relativity board “will be removed from the board next week.”

The pooch from “Arabian Nights” fetched the Palm Dog award at Cannes on Friday. Lucky, who appeared in the Portuguese film, was found to be top dog at the U.K. Film Centre pavilion.
“I think it was the jumpers (sweaters) – it has 10 different dog jumpers in this film,” said film critic Kate Muir while presenting the award.
The Maltipoo — half Maltese and half miniature poodle — even got to bark a couple of remarks in an acceptance speech.
Two border collies nabbed the prize for second place. The father-son duo were seen in “The Lobster” costarring with Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz.
The lighthearted award has come under some criticism by the French, who say it’s too frivolous for the high-minded films of Cannes.

I just watched "The Exorcist" again on Netflix and was astonished by just how powerfully frightening it remains over 40 years later. I can only image what audiences in 1973/74 were feeling when they saw it in theaters for the first time. There had been no other horror film quite like it, and as you can see in these videos unearthed by the A.V. As the Cannes Film Festival draws to a close, the Orchard is in final negotiations for North American rights to the drama “Louder Than Bombs,” starring Jesse Eisenberg, Variety has learned.
The film from Norwegian director Joachim Trier premiered in competition on Monday night to strong reviews, and the Orchard beat out other distributors such as Magnolia, A24, Alchemy and Music Box, according to sources close to the talks. The movie will have a traditional theatrical release.
“Louder Than Bombs” focuses on a widower (Gabriel Byrne) and his sons (Eisenberg and Devin Druid), who are in grief after the loss of their mom (Isabelle Huppert) — a war photographer for the New York Times. Amy Ryan, David Strathairn and Rachel Brosnahan round out the cast.
