If you have not seen this film, I suggest you stop reading my review right about now and go watch it.
WHIPLASH is one of the best films to come out last year (14) and I must say it is the one that took me by surprise. Whiplash here refers to a band that everybody wants to be part of. The story involved is about a drummer who wants to be really good because drumming is his life but when he meets a very cynical teacher, his hobby is forced to become a passion. The teacher has all the passion in the world, his passion is dangerous, he tries to instil the same in all the members of Whiplash. He changes the jazz band's composition every now and then.
Our hero wants to be a great summer, he wants to be accepted into Whiplash. He is concentrating hard, his father does not think much of him, he has no friends and the one girlfriend he does somehow make he loses because he thinks it interferes with drumming.
So there you have it nicely and abruptly set up. I thought JJ SIMMONS was outstanding and he deserved the OSCAR. The film ends leaving you gasping in wonder and delight at what just happened. My wife and I didn't know where to look. It's so good, I've seen the ending several times. It has this ability, I can't put a word on it. JUST GO WATCH.
At Rs 490, this is a steal for your family or just for you alone. It is worth purchasing.
