NBC Moving Ahead With Blindspot, Heartbreaker And Chicago Med

As broadcast television heads toward upfront week, NBC has announced the addition of three brand new dramas to its slate. Having commissioned 19 pilots, the network already sent Shades Of Blue, Coach and Telenovela straight to series. These projects have now been joined by series commitments for Heartbreaker, Blindspot and Dick Wolf’s Chicago Med.
Chicago Med promises to take audiences into the daily chaos of Chicago’s busiest hospital – focusing on the doctors working within. It fits into Dick Wolf’s successful Chicago franchise, with characters from Chicago P.D and Chicago Fire planned to pass through the sterile hallways of the hospital. Oliver Platt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Laurie Holden, Nick Gehlfuss, and Yaya Dacosta are among the cast of this show that is written by Matt Olmstead, Michael Brandt and Derek Haas. Kristen Wiig is a master of uncomfortable comedy. The actress’s SNL characters pushed past the boundaries of social awkwardness, from career one-upper Penelope to mischievous weirdo Gilly, and her theatrical roles have found her tackling topics most people find inherently unfunny, from mental breakdowns (Girl Most Likely) to suicide (The Skeleton Twins), in films almost too dark to even qualify as dramedies. Wiig’s latest, Welcome to Me, also defies categorization.
An alternately sobering and amusing depiction of mental illness, it’s an entire film about a person you wouldn’t want to spend more than a minute alone in a room with. Alice Klieg (Wiig) is a lonely woman suffering from dissociative personality disorder who passes most days watching Oprah and a VHS collection of infomercials. Shovel Knight (Xbox One) Review

Truth be told, a lot of us live in the past. We fondly go over great memories, and even go as far as to wish that we were children again, devoid of the issues that come with adulthood and even adolescence. Entertainment plays a big role in such nostalgia, and video games are no stranger as far as that’s concerned. After all, we gamers are known for placing our childhood favourites on pedestals and forgetting about any of their potential flaws.
Seeing a niche that would allow them to both explore their own nostalgia and help others do the same, indie developer Yacht Club Games set to work on Shovel Knight. A retro-inspired platformer that mixes elements of Super Mario Bros. and Mega Man with hints of The Legend of Zelda, it quickly gained popularity and had no problem achieving support from the community.

Does Tom Holland Still Stand A Chance Of Playing Spider-Man?

Last we heard, Marvel was locking in Ender’s Game star Asa Butterfield for the highly coveted role of Spider-Man, who is expected to appear in Captain America: Civil War before toplining his own solo pic. According to Badass Digest’s Devin Faraci, though, the gig’s not his just yet – The Impossible actor Tom Holland is still in the mix.
If Faraci, who is often on the money as far as superhero scoopage goes, knows what he’s talking about here, that means that Marvel has thinned out a shortlist that also included Timothee Chalamet (Interstellar), Nat Woolf (The Fault in Our Stars) and Liam James (The Way Way Back).

Josh Trank Exits The Star Wars Universe

Deadline is reporting tonight that Josh Trank will no longer direct the Star Wars spinoff film that he had been attached to for nearly a year now. No specific reason was given for his departure, but the following statement was issued:
“After a year of having the incredible honor of developing with the wonderful and talented people at Lucasfilm, I’m making a personal decision to move forward on a different path,” said Josh Trank today. “I’ve put a tremendous amount of thought into this, and I know deep down in my heart that I want to pursue some original creative opportunities,” he added.

NBC Dumping All Of Aquarius Online At Once

Taking a page out of the Netflix playbook, all 13 episodes of the drama will become available on NBC.com, the NBC app and VOD on May 28, the same night of Aquarius‘ two-hour premiere. New episodes of the drama will air weekly in the 9 p.m. Thursday timeslot, making NBC the first broadcast network to attempt a strategy that blends the all-at-once model with a traditional broadcast approach.
NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt called the move “forward-thinking,” stating:
“With Aquarius we have the opportunity to push some new boundaries to give our audience something no broadcast network has done before. We are fully aware how audiences want to consume multiple episodes of new television series faster and at their own discretion, and we’re excited to offer our viewers this same experience since all 13 episodes of this unique show have been produced and are ready to be seen.”

Penny Dreadful Season 2 Review

The haunted Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) remains at the bloody heart of Showtime’s Penny Dreadful as it launches headfirst into its second season. Based on the first two episodes, the series remains as scary, sexy and spine-tingling as before the break, but new threats and altered circumstances promise to add new flavor to an already tasty concoction of supernatural thrills, dramatic twists and Victorian ambience.

Live Stream Tomorrowland Brasil 2015 All Weekend Long Right Here

The inaugural Tomorrowland Brasil is about to kick off in Sao Paolo’s Maeda Park and for those who weren’t able to make it this year, ID&T is offering up a live stream so that you can tune in throughout the weekend and watch as Edm superstars like Hardwell, Afrojack, Steve Angello, Showtek and more deliver what are sure to be some electrifying sets.
Things will kick off at 7pm Brt/6pm Et over on the Tomorrowland Brazil website or via the embed above. As we mentioned, this is the first time that Tomorrowland is hitting Brasil, so it should be interesting to see what the festival organizers have in store. Whatever they’ve got planned, you can bet that it’s going to be a pretty memorable event and we definitely suggest trying to catch at least a bit of it over the weekend.

Disclosure Drops Bang That

It’s been a while since we’ve heard any new music from Disclosure. Too long, actually. But today the boys are back with a brand new track in the form of “Bang That,” which premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show.
Sampling 313 Bass Mechanic’s “Pass Out,” the tech house/hip-hop song is a definite departure from the duo’s usual sound, but it’s certainly an interesting effort and one which will no doubt fit quite well into their DJ sets. Be warned though, gone is Disclosure’s signature heavy, wobbly bassline and in its place is a more gritty, garage sound that’s sure to inspire some serious twerking in clubs all over the world.
Personally, I don’t particularly love it, but as Disclosure states on their SoundCloud page, it’s simply just something to hold us all over while we wait for their next album, »

The Casual Vacancy Review

HBO’s adaptation of The Casual Vacancy would be far less of an event were it not for the source material’s world-renowned author: J.K. Rowling, of Harry Potter fame. Rowling wrote The Casual Vacancy, a decidedly adult tale of bourgeois apathy and class warfare set in the picturesque English village of Pagford, as her first book without wands and witchcraft. The differences are stark, from the pervasive unpleasantness of the characters to the dour, unsatisfying culmination of their stories.
Still, it’s near impossible to consider the volume without attempting to identify any sliver of shared DNA, so chew on this – The Casual Vacancy is a series built around an entire town of Muggles, all lacking the magic or morality of Rowling’s Hogwarts-approved heroes. E3 2015 Schedule Gives You A Day-By-Day Breakdown Of Gaming’s Biggest Event

With around six weeks to go until the big event, Game Informer has compiled a day-by-day breakdown of all of the notable press conferences announced thus far for E3 2015, including the likes of Bethesda, EA, Square Enix and the recently announced PC Gaming convention.
It’s worth keeping in mind that Sony and Microsoft – arguably the two main attractions – are yet to confirm a time slot for their respective presentations, and it’s the same case for Ubisoft and Nintendo, though the latter company will likely broadcast a pre-recorded Nintendo Direct if recent history has taught us anything.

Bungie Details Destiny’s New PvP Multiplayer Mode Trials Of Osiris

Ahead of the release of House of Wolves, Bungie has took to its official blog to provide budding Guardians with all the information they need relating to Destiny‘s new-fangled end-game feature, Trials of Osiris.
Essentially, the multiplayer facet will be added to the shooter’s Crucible section, introducing ardent players to an all-new PvP mode. However, as the developer notes in the excerpt below, newbies need not apply.

Lightning Strikes In Steve Aoki’s New Track

After debuting “Darker Than Blood” last month, Steve Aoki is back with another new track from his upcoming album, Neon Future II. Due out on May 12th, the newest song from the disc comes in the form of “Lightning Strikes,” which features Nervo and Tony Junior.
With the Australian sisters on vocal duty, and sounding as impressive as always, the anthemic track is a big one and will no doubt be dominating main stages across the world as festival season gets underway.

Amy Ryan Joins Dwayne Johnson And Kevin Hart In Central Intelligence

Amy Ryan has snagged the female lead in Warner Bros. and New Line’s upcoming buddy comedy, Central Intelligence.
Set to be headlined by Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, the film is currently eyeing a June 2016 release date and revolves around a “mild-mannered accountant (Hart) who hears from a former classmate (Johnson) who was bullied in high school. The guy the accountant remembers as a loser now kills for the CIA and talks him into helping thwart a plot to sell military secrets.” As for Ryan, she’ll be playing a CIA operative who is trying to chase down Johnson’s character.

Joss Whedon Explains Loki’s Absence In Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Those walking into Avengers: Age of Ultron this weekend expecting to see Loki appear on screen will be sorely disappointed. While we all know that James Spader’s titular robot is the film’s main baddie, some people were still expecting to see Tom Hiddleston’s fan favorite character show up in a minor role. Especially since we had heard that the actor shot a few scenes for the movie back in the Fall.
However, apparently Hiddleston’s material was left on the cutting room floor and in a recent interview with MTV News, director Joss Whedon explains why he made that decision:

Lionsgate Moving Forward With Reboot Of Cult Sci-Fi Horror Film Cube

Lionsgate is reportedly pushing ahead with a reboot of cult 90s horror film Cube, though it appears there may be a twist in the tale in what the studio is describing as a “re-imagining.”
Vincenzo Natali’s 1997 original was a low-key, psychological film that followed seven strangers imprisoned within the titular structure. It was a simple, yet brilliant concept, raising questions of morality as the inhabitants decided whether to help one another, or pursue their own best interests and escape the Cube at the cost of the others. Natali’s horror spawned both a sequel and a prequel in the early 2000s, though Lionsgate is preparing to flip the concept on its head for this modern retelling under the new moniker, Cubed.

Alesso, The Chemical Brothers And Above & Beyond To Headline Electric Zoo 2015

Though it’s been a rough couple of years for Electric Zoo, the festival is planning a return to Randall’s Island this September and today, the first three headliners have been announced.
Through a campaign called Follow Me To New York that leads fans to this specific website, it’s been revealed that The Chemical Brothers, Alesso and Above & Beyond will be taking the stage in NYC this Labor Day Weekend. Unfortunately, those were the only three acts announced today, but it’s certainly an exciting trio of headliners, representing music that’s both old school and new.

Dragon Age: Inquisition’s Jaws Of Hakkon Dlc Dated For Xbox 360 And PlayStation Platforms

Thedas beckons once again, dear explorers, as BioWare has confirmed the release date for Jaws of Hakkon – the maiden story-centric expansion for Dragon Age: Inquisition – on Xbox 360 and PlayStation platforms.
Previously, the Dlc was exclusive to Xbox One and PC, and the studio irked some of the title’s loyal fans when it couldn’t reveal the release date for said expansion due to an exclusivity deal between BioWare and Microsoft.

Perhaps it’s a curse associated with the act itself, but more often than not, video game adaptations prove to be a tricky butterfly to pin. When Mad Max: Fury Road star Tom Hardy boarded Doug Liman’s Splinter Cell movie, all of the pieces appeared to be in place for a truly great actioner based on the covert operations of one Sam Fisher.
