What is an eBook?

An eBook is an electronic book, or a digital version of a print book. Eye On Education eBooks are available as DRM-free (see “What is Digital Rights Management?”) PDF files and may be read on either a PC or a Mac as well as e-readers that support the PDF format. You can click here to download a sample chapter to see how our eBooks look.

Why would I want to read an eBook?

EBooks provide a convenient, portable reading experience. Multiple eBooks can be stored on your computer or e-reader, allowing you to access multiple titles without having to carry multiple books. There is no waiting period for you to read your eBook as it can be downloaded immediately. You can also store your eBook on multiple devices, making it easy to retrieve at home, the office, or on the go. Additionally, eBooks are searchable – entering a word or phrase in Adobe Reader’s search box will show you every use of that word or phrase throughout the book.

Why would I purchase both a print and digital version of a title?

Bundling a paperback and eBook lets you take advantage of both mediums. You can write in your paperback, highlight favorite passages, and bookmark important pages before putting it on your desk or bookshelf for easy reference. Your eBook is available immediately, searchable and also allows for portability as you can read your eBook in the office, at home, or while traveling—essentially anywhere you can access the PDF file.

What software do I need to read my eBook?

Eye On Education’s eBooks are available as DRM-free PDF files. You will need an updated version of Adobe Reader to read your eBook on your PC or Mac. If you do not have Adobe Reader, you can download it free of charge at http://get.adobe.com/reader/. If you would like to load your eBook on your e-reader, please click here for instructions. To test your software, you can click here to download a sample chapter.

What is Digital Rights Management (DRM)?

Digital Rights Management (DRM) is a term that describes technology used by copyright holders to control access to and protect copyright of digital content. Eye On Education does not use DRM on our eBooks. (They are “DRM-free.”)

How do I download my eBook?

After completing your order, you will receive a link to your eBook on the Confirmation page.  Clicking on the link will take you to the “Download Product” page. You will then be prompted to open the PDF of your eBook. Please note that it may take several seconds for your eBook to open. Once it is open, please click on File (top left-hand corner of screen) and then click on Save As. On the “Save a Copy” screen, click the Save button to download a permanent copy of your eBook and save it on your computer. If you’d like to download the book at a later time, you can visit your Eye On Education Account Center and click on My eBooks to see your purchase history and remaining downloads. You are allowed to download your eBook five (5) times.

Once I purchase an eBook, will it always be available?

Once you’ve purchased an eBook from Eye On Education, it is yours. Please remember to save it to your PC or Mac, and as long as you continue to store it on your computer or e-reader you can read it at any time.  The download link is valid until the eBook has been downloaded five (5) times.

What happens if I have an eBook on my hard drive and the hard drive fails?

Please be sure to back up your eBooks as you do your other files so that you can restore your eBook if your hard drive fails. Alternatively, if you have not yet downloaded the eBook five (5) times, you can visit your Eye On Education Account Center and click on “My eBooks” to download the eBook again. If you continue to have problems, please customer-service: customer-service/ÄT/eyeoneducation/DÖT/-c-o-m-/ or call (888) 299-5350 (M–F/9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. EST ).

Can I download my eBook multiple times?

You can download your eBook five (5) times. Once you have downloaded it, you may store it on several devices. This means you can have a copy at work, one at home, and one anywhere your e-reader goes.  Although Eye On Education allows multiple downloads of an eBook, it is meant to be read by one person at a time. Allowing a friend or colleague to download your eBook so that you can read it simultaneously is a violation of copyright law.

Can I store my eBook on several devices?

Yes. Once you have downloaded your eBook to your PC or Mac, you may copy it onto any other devices that you own. However, even though you can store your eBook on multiple devices, your eBook is meant to be read by one person at a time. Copying your eBook onto a friend or colleague’s computer or e-reader so that you can read it simultaneously is a violation of copyright law.

Can I email my eBook to friends and colleagues?

No, you may not share your eBook with anyone else. Sharing an eBook is not like sharing a paper book. When you share a paper book with a friend, there is still only one copy that can be used at a time. Sharing an eBook actually duplicates the eBook, which violates copyright law and denies the author the ability to make money from this second, unsold copy of his or her book. If you would like to purchase multiple copies of a single eBook title so that you can send them to friends or colleagues, including school- wide or district-wide book studies, please e-mail customer service

Can I print my eBook?

You may print your eBook for your own personal use. However, it may be less expensive—and less time-consuming—for you to purchase our print and eBook bundle, which is available for a discounted price. Please refer to the product page of the title you are interested in to find out what the print and eBook bundle costs. Additionally, buying the print book rather than printing your eBook provides you with a better reading experience as the print book has been designed to optimize the experience of reading on paper. You cannot give away your copy of the printed eBook or share it with anyone else because this violates copyright law. If you are interested in distributing copies for a class, workshop, etc., please e-mail customer service.
