Shorts
Shorts can be narrative, documentary, or animation as long as they are under 30 min. in length.
American Narrative Features
American Narrative Feature Films are over 30 min. in length and the director is based in the US. Premiere status is taken into account for all sections, and films that have not yet screened in the US are given priority.

Feature length films are ineligible for consideration if they have screened or are planning to screen in the Greater Los Angeles area prior to AFI FEST - this includes the counties of Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and Ventura.
American Documentary Features
Documentaries under 30 min. should be submitted as Shorts.

American Documentary Feature Films are over 30 min. in length and the director is based in the US. Premiere status is taken into account for all sections, and films that have not yet screened in the US are given priority.

MISSION & OBJECTIVE
AFI FEST presents a survey of the year's most significant films each fall. Featuring international work from emerging filmmakers, global showcases of films from the great masters and red-carpet gala premieres, AFI FEST brings world cinema to the heart of Hollywood.

The audience at AFI FEST has grown to over 75,000 attendees with media impressions in excess of 7 billion worldwide.


ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
AFI FEST 2015 presented by Audi will be held November 5 - 12th, 2015 in Los Angeles, California at the TCL Chinese 6 Theaters at the Hollywood & Highland Center, and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. AFI FEST is the longest-running international film festival in Los Angeles.

Each fall, AFI FEST presents the year's most significant films. Kicking off the awards season each year, AFI FEST offers a crucial avenue of exposure to the entertainment community. Featuring international work from emerging filmmakers, global showcases of films from the great masters and red-carpet gala premieres, AFI FEST brings the very best of world cinema to the city of Los Angeles, the film capital of the world. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recognizes AFI FEST as a qualifying festival for the Short Films category of the annual Academy Awards.

GENERAL RULES
*Although we do not require U.S. Premieres for our sections, premiere status is taken into consideration. Feature length films are ineligible for consideration if they have screened or are planning to screen in the Greater Los Angeles area prior to AFI FEST - this includes the counties of Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and Ventura.

*For short films, there is no premiere requirement (films can have already played in the Los Angeles area and can appear online before the festival and are still eligible for consideration).

* Films that are 30 minutes or longer in length are considered feature films. Anything under 30 minutes is considered a short film.

*We welcome submissions on DVD screeners and via the Withoutabox secure online screener system.

* DVDs must be labeled clearly with the title, running time and contact information (including name, address and phone number).

* More than one entry may be submitted. Each entry must be accompanied by an official entry form and entry fee.

* If your film is selected, then you will be asked to provide stills from the film; press materials; headshot and filmography of director; b&w and/or color and video trailer (if available). Please do not send in press materials until asked to do so by the festival.

* The entry fee is non-refundable.

* AFI Conservatory students can write to programming@AFI.com to receive an entry fee waiver, we are unable to offer any other entry fee waivers at this time.

* DVDs and other submitted materials will not be returned. Please do not send film prints, master tapes or other originals.

* If you want confirmation that your entry has been received by AFI FEST, please include a self-addressed stamped postcard.

* All film entries selected for the Festival grant AFI FEST the rights to use footage, stills and/or titles and information from the film for promotional purposes.

* All films submitted must be free from any legal disputes and the filmmaker must have cleared all rights for music and exhibition.

* All filmmakers will be notified of acceptance by October 9, 2015.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

*I hereby grant the AFI FEST ("Festival") 2015, presented by Audi, all rights necessary to exhibit and promote the above-referenced film at the 2015 Festival. I represent that such exhibition will not violate or infringe upon any rights whatsoever (including copyright, trademark, musical or contract right) of any person or entity. I further represent that I am authorized to submit the above-referenced film and, if selected, will deliver the screening print to the Festival office no later than October 23, 2015. Additionally, I indemnify the Festival from any and all claims, demands, losses, costs, damages, and attorney's fee arising out of or in connection with third parties in regards to the screening of said film. Further, I hereby agree that I have read and agree to the Rules and Regulations for submissions to AFI FEST 2015
