HBO Renews Comedies ‘Veep,’ ‘Silicon Valley’

Fresh off their Sunday season premieres, HBO has renewed comedies “Veep” and “Silicon Valley.”

Veep” is getting a fifth term in office. “Silicon Valley” is renewed for a third season.

” ‘Veep’ and ‘Silicon Valley’ are terrific series, and I’m immensely proud that they will return to HBO next year,” said Michael Lombardo, HBO’s president of original programming. He noted that the two half-hours coupled with “Game of Thrones” and “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” have given HBO a “stellar Sunday night like no other.”

Veep” is expected to undergo a change of showrunner next season as creator/exec producer Armando Iannucci intends to step back. The British hyphenate has been commenting from his home in the U.K. to the U.S. each season. David Mandel, an alum of HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” will take the reins of the show that lenses in Baltimore.

‘American Horror Story': Sarah Paulson Officially Joining ‘Hotel’

Just a few days after “American Horror Story” alum Kathy Bates was confirmed to rejoin the series for the upcoming “Hotel,” Sarah Paulson has checked in as well.

In true Ryan Murphy style, the showrunner tweeted that “Ahs” mainstay Paulson will be returning for the fifth season.

Sarah Paulson is checking into ‘Hotel.’ And this season, she’s the baddest bad girl of them all. #AHSSeason5,” wrote Murphy.

Paulson has starred in all four of the previous installments. She joins the previously announced Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson, Wes Bentley and Chloë Sevigny.

Paulson received two Emmy nominations for her roles in the “Asylum” and “Coven” installments. She played the two-headed Bette/Dot in the most recent “Freak Show” season.
