 Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace – Prevention, promotion and guidance to staged implementation

 

The Mental Health Commission of Canada's voluntary standard for psychological health and safety in the workplace is now available. CAMH will be the first hospital in Canada to adopt the Mental Health Commission’s new National Standard of Canada.

 

Youth and Interactive Media, Games and Social Networks

This new resource promotes awareness about healthy use of these technologies, as well as the risks of becoming overly involved and sometimes even dependent on their use. A useful resource for parents. 

 

The Société Santé en français and the Réseau des services de santé en français de l'Est de l'Ontario launched their new Orientations en santé mentale en français, favoriser le rétablissement dans sa langue containing four new priority mental health topics in French. The four orientations include: informing francophone communities; reinforcing community capacity; reinforcing mental health services in French throughout the life span and promoting research and knowledge exchange.

 

The Consortium national de formation en santé (CNFS), in collaboration with the University of Ottawa and the Université de Moncton, announced the web launch of its new online resource, the Portail de formation linguistique et d’adaptation culturelle, en santé. New website for pregnant and post-partum women

 

Pregnets

 This CAMH website hosts the most up-to-date information on smoking cessation practices for pregnant and postpartum women, a toolkit for health care providers, an anonymous Online Discussion Board and a personalized plan for quitting or reducing smoking.

A website for families and health care providers. PREGNETS was created with funding from Echo: Improving Women's Health in Ontario, an agency of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

 

Opioids : Prescription Opioid Advice 

Prescription opioid misuse has become a major public health issue. The Opioid Advice Series covers: 
    - the use of opioids for the treatment of pain
    - ways to prevent, assess, and manage those who have become addicted
The Opioid Advice series was produced in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

Minds that Matter reports the findings from the Ontario Human Rights Commission’s (OHRC) province-wide consultation on the human rights issues experienced by people with mental health disabilities or addictions.

 

New Canadian Mental Health Strategy

Changing Directions, Changing Lives is the first mental health strategy for Canada and is posted on the website of the Canadian Mental Health Commission.

 

New resources for primary care professionals!

 

 CAMH is translating the Addiction Toolkit, known as la Trousse d'outils sur la toxicomanie in French. The following sections are now available on the site: Renseignements de base sur la toxicomanie  (Fundamentals of Addiction), Faire face aux problèmes d'alcool (Dealing with Alcohol Problems), Abandon du tabac (Smoking Cessation) and Mauvais usage des opioïdes et toxicomanie (Opioid misuse and addiction).
