but the standard zoom lenses for the Sony are not in the same league.

  • Radiology is not done outside on a sunny day. Touch screens which are barely visible in broad daylight and require small fingers to use the controls accurately and if over 50 ,reading glasses does...

  • Unfair. DPR makes it clear that if you want ultimate resolution and better high ISO performance, look elsewhere. But it handles beautifully and is small/discrete . Fantastic EVF. As a "Street"...

  • Commented on Olympus OM-D E-M5 II Review preview

Not forgetting of course that the Olympus(and Panasonic )lens range is very large and many of the lenses are of very high quality indeed.

  • given that there is no EVF the least they could have done is fitted a competitive quality screen. . 460k dot is half what it should be.

  • lean on a wall or up against a post.

  • find me a 1000mm lens on a camera with a 1" sensor or larger and I will send a lorry round to fetch it.

  • It is rare not to find a wall or lampost/telegraph pole to hand which you can lean the camera against. Would give you at least 3 stops.

  • Not strange really. Affordable, small and in the right circumstances ,useful. All SLRs these days produce good results and have most bells and whistles so there will be no surprises in the...

  • Any camera with this reach will not produce that sharp an image.Think of the distance through the atmosphere that the light has travelled. If you need the reach, better than no lens at all.I have...

  • thanks. Great shame, the older 50-200 is a great lens but well nigh useless on the OM-D 5,and to buy the OM D-1 so that it will autofocus is almost as expensive as buying the newer 50-200,and using...

  • Will it allow the older 4/3rd lenses to autofocus as does the OM D-1? (the present OM-D E-5 will not). thanks

  • Many of the most revered photographs have been taken with dodgy lenses and poor emulsions compared to what is available today;yet they are admired by millions. It is not all about IQ,. The best...

  • The FZ is enormous by comparison. The sophisticated OS should go some way to negate the rather small maximum apertures. Reducing to 12mp is what everybody has been advising on this site for years....

  • You may well be right but action photography doesn't require high 40mpx resolution so the frame rate will hardly be important.

  • I agree as far as the EVF is concerned but to be fair to DPR although it produces very good IQ with regard to its sensor size ,it cannot compete with the either the Panasonic LX100 or Sony RX 100 ...

  • I trust this was a deliberate pun?

  • LX100 and the GM5 with the standard zoom are really very similar in most respects other than the slower lens and the higher pixel count of the latter. Difficult choice especially if not bothered...

  • You cannot have everything. This is a fixed lens camera and if you want to go wider and longer the lens would have to be far larger, heavier, slower and more compromised optically. The alternative is...

  • This camera looks made for street photography in which case a lens cap will only get in the way of an opportunistic shot.
