“ Without question or hyperbole: this is the movie event of the year. Oh, wait, we do have a question: "When can we please see some new footage?"
Current MOVIEmeter ranking: #3 ” People: Don Cheadle, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Claudia Kim
Titles: Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

“ What if classic video game characters came to life in the form of hostile alien invaders? That's the ingenious idea behind Pixels, which just had a huge trailer release a couple weeks ago and could be one of the top-performing movies of the year. Something tells us that sequels are being quietly developed already, and that Adam Sandler and director Chris Columbus are texting high fives to one another everyday.
Current MOVIEmeter ranking: #11 ” Titles: Pixels (2015)

“ No surprise here. The 007 universe continues its savvy move of rolling out vlogs in advance of trailer debuts to give fans an on-set look at the locations and stunts being dreamed up in order to maintain the franchise's commitment to upping the stakes with every release. And whoever thought of casting Dave Bautista is a prophet.
With the teaser trailer just released over the weekend, look for a MOVIEmeter jump this week. Current MOVIEmeter ranking: #22 ” People: Daniel Craig
Titles: Spectre (2015)

“ Comic book movies are now such a firmly established genre that upcoming projects are wisely flipping their scripts in order to stave off fan fatigue - either by pitting superheroes against one another, introducing lesser known characters into the overall universe, or entertaining the thought of crossover movies. Essentially, the movies are starting to finally resemble their source material, since comics and graphic novels have always been unafraid to rethink what it is to be a hero or a villain.
Marvel notched a first victory of this kind by turning the virtually unknown Guardians of the Galaxy into the #3 movie at the 2014 box office, and here comes DC Comics with Batman vs. Superman, arguably the most ambitious comic-book adaptation since The Avengers. Current MOVIEmeter ranking: #27 ” People: Jesse Eisenberg
Titles: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

“ Of course, the main element here is model-turning-actress Cara Delevingne, who has a handful of potential blockbusters coming out through 2016, but let's not forget the crowd that hangs on every word written by The Fault in Our Stars author John Green. We're looking forward to seeing what comes of his screenplay in the hands of Robot & Frank director Jake Schreier.
Current MOVIEmeter ranking: #44 ” People: Nat Wolff, Cara Delevingne
Titles: Paper Towns (2015)

“ Frankly, we're surprised this entire top ten list isn't overrun with all of the Star Wars movies out there in development, but you have to start somewhere. For us -- and for you, it seems -- the movie universe is centered around Oscar Isaac these days; he will play X-Wing pilot Poe Dameron in The Force Awakens and its as-yet-subtitled sequel, and he also stars in the excellent Ex Machina, which comes out this Friday in the U.S.
Current MOVIEmeter ranking: #61 ” People: Daisy Ridley
Titles: Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)

“ Hey, look, Adam Sandler has two movies on this top 10 list. This might prove that audiences love him in certain modes - especially in animated form - and hopefully he'll spare us all from his alienating, mean-spirited comedies for a while.
Hotel Transylvania was designed for multiple sequels, and as long as master animator Genndy Tartakovsky is involved, we expect its audience to grow. Current MOVIEmeter ranking: #75 ” Titles: Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015)
|
8/10
“ Max, which is based on the true story of a military dog mourning the loss of his best friend, U.S. Marine Kyle Wincott, had been cruising under the radar until its emotional first trailer was released. It could be another hit for Warner Bros., who is still celebrating the success of American Sniper - and now they have a buzzing, way less controversial war movie to promote.
Current MOVIEmeter ranking: #86 ” Titles: Max (2015)

9/10
“ There's a lot of online interest in checking out how former "Game of Thrones" hunk Ed Skrein looks and feels as the new Frank Martin, and the just-released trailer helped The Transporter Refueled jump into the top 100 on our MOVIEmeter chart. Hopefully that goodwill follows Skrein through opening weekend, though franchise hand-offs can be a dicey prospect. It's a busy time for the actor; he has a clutch of movies in the can and he recently joined the Deadpool universe - as the villain, most likely.
Current MOVIEmeter ranking: #96 ” People: Ed Skrein
Titles: The Transporter Refueled (2015)

“ The inevitable and long-overdue fourth Jurassic installment hasn't made any missteps from its casting to its real-time setting, some 22 years after the park first opened. Chris Pratt hopefully doesn't feel too much pressure on his shoulders since pretty much the entire movie-going world has his back.
Current MOVIEmeter ranking: #103 ” People: Chris Pratt
Titles: Jurassic World (2015)
